Default Does freezing nuts kill the enzymes?

A few days ago, I received 5 pounds of oganic, raw almonds and put them in the freezer and am now having second thoughts aout that. Thanks for any input.

freezing is the opposite as heating...right? So freezing= halting the ageing process. Heating= killing the life.

    Dont you guys agree?

Freezing doesn't kill the enzymes at all.

Lots of plants and seeds freeze over the winter and then thaw in the spring and spring back into action growing again and the seeds germinate and spring into new plants so freezing is a natural part of the cycle.

Thank you for posting this! I was freaking out about the nuts I put in my freezer. I just wanted to make sure they didn't go rancid before I ate all of them since I'm not a huge nut eater. I'm feeling much better now :)

    Default thanks

That must have been what I was thinking when I did it, but since I had that stroke, my mind keeps questioning my reasoning. Guess I just needed some reassurance!

Same here. Except I am a big nut eater but when I buy a lot because I know I won't get to Whole Foods I freeze them. I wonder how long you can leave them in the freezer without them going bad though. Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

isn't the norm for any frozen items... 6 months and nutritive value begin to be lost... over a year is not good. or is it different for nuts?

I've heard that somewhere from 30-60% of the enzymes are destroyed by freezing foods.
