dove deodorant
So I called up dove doedorant out of curiousity asked about the ingrediants, the woman on the phone said that the main ingrediant is alumunum which is 15% of their product! omg!
-
yeah! i stopped using conventional deodorants about 3 years ago. I used Tom's - gave me a rash, then Burt's Bee's Sage Oil deodorant - quite good, liquid rock - convenient. Now I use the crystal every now and again but only if I'm working out, funnily enough I don't smell that bad, or I've just gotten used to my own stench!... hmmm.... oh well.

Yes I use the crystal rock stuff also, they sell it at the grocery store next door to my apartment! yay

I've been using baking soda for at least 6 years now. Works great, no reactions.

Aluminum has a known relation to Alzheimers. 50 years ago the Consumer Education Center in Pueblo Colorado was publishing warnings to Americans not to buy aluminum pots and pans. I don't understand why they just did not make it illegal to use in any product that involved with food preparation or bodily application. (But I have some sinister ideas why!)

I love Dove's campaign for real beauty thing, but that doesn't mean their products are good

baking soda works wonders.
i experimented with it with hair under my arms, while i was sooooo smelly and after i took a shower. it works perfectly everytime without a lingering smell. since i can use it whenever, i haven't used my old stuff since.
to use it, you just wet your hands and put a little on your wet hands and rub it in your armpits. a little goes a long ways. you MUST be careful with black clothing however.
i know baking soda isn't a food but i would call it a superfood/superproduct.
Getting back on track;)

I was telling my husband last night about how wonderful baking soda is, he just laughed at me saying I'm nuts, lol, but it's true it really is the superproduct. Did you ever see 'My big fat greek wedding' with the windex? It's like that but with baking soda, lol!

Most of those commercial deodorants are pretty nasty. But then, so is body odour when you're full of toxins!
When I stopped using anti-perspirant, I had a bad reaction. I think all those years of plugging up the sweat glands had forced them to work harder. When I stopped using anti-perspirant, I had tons of sweat. It was literally pouring down my sides! That eventually went away. But it shows you what happens when you artificially plug up one of the body's avenues for detoxification!
I'll have to try the baking soda method. I haven't found that the natural deodorants (ones that cover up the smell with essential oils and such) work very well. They definitely don't offer long-lasting protection, anyway!

In the summer I would put baking soda in my shoes and I'd track it all over my exbf's black sheets
hehe

How long did that take you?
-
It took a few months, I think. But then, I'd been using anti-perspirants for about 10 years.
-
I use these spray-on deodorants but I spray them on my clothes instead of my body. :)
-
That is so scary! I didn't think there was aluminum in deodorant
-
Technically, I don't think there is. Anti-perspirants contain aluminum. Most deodorants do not (but the commercial ones contain other lovely things like parabens).
