masticating vs centrifuge
okay, so i'm doing all this reading and research and i'm confused about something and can't seem to find an answer for myself.
it sounds like masticating is better... but what is wrong with centrifuge? why would that not be as effective as mastication?
i just bought a new juicer... breville elite but i'm wondering if i should return it and buy a masticating juicer instead.

i am returning my breville and have ordered a champion juicer. i find the breville elite does a horrible job of juicing. the juice is so light in colour (no matter how slowly i push the food down) and it just doesn't taste as rich as the other breville i was using.
with all i've read and all you can do with the champion, i decided it was a much MUCH better bang for my buck.
sorry i can't give much advice on this, as i'm very new as well. perhaps someone will chime in and gift us some?

I have the Omega (like a Champion)-- it can do wheatgrass, and makes the smoothest frozen banana ice cream, comes out like softserve. You will love the masticating juicer!
-
i ordered a flat of wheatgrass for myself. i'm hoping my champion will juice it for me!
thanks joanna, it's nice to hear you made the right choice!

Which Omega?

Hi JoannaG. I just bought a Green Star 1000 and it is a bit of a pain in the neck to clean and it is huge and heavy. But I just read up on juicers on the link that someone just posted here and I am going for an Omega. I just hope that the store will do the exchange for me. I have spent a lot of money there though as I also bought an Excalibur dehydrator and have ordered a Vitamix from them too. But - finally - (am so long-winded eh?) my question is shall I get the 8003 or the 8005? Which one did you get? Thanks so much in advance. Have a healthy day!

Thank you SO MUCH for posting the link on juicer explanation!!!! I was wanting that information exactly and it saved me a ton of time and work putting together my own spreadsheet. Awesome! :)

Omega
I recently bought an Omega 8003 masticating Juicer, and I love it. I bought so that I could do something more healthy for my daughter--who is seven months now, but sadly found that the pulp isn't fine enough for her to eat yet. Other then that it's great. Easy to clean, easy to use, and most of all it's very versatile. My only issue now is what's best for juicing, how often do I juice, and when is it time ti say when...
-
are you attempting to feed her the pulp without the juice? that is not something you want to do as all the nutrients have been removed!!!
instead, put in the blank screen (if your juicer has one... my champion does) and run it through that way instead. it should come out creamy smooth!
it's always time to juice! you can add fresh juices to your daily diet or do a juice feast/fast. but not while you are pregnant or breastfeeding!!!

and just to update this:
a champion doesn't do very well with wheatgrass... the vita-mix does a MUCH better job! but the champion did work. just be sure to cut up the wheatgrass into small pieces (same with the vita-mix) or the grass just gets all wound around and stops the champion/vita-mix from doing it's job.

The Champion doesn't do wheatgrass.

No masticating machine does. I got the SoloStar II. It does wheatgrass and makes about 1/2 ounce more carrot juice that the Champion. Easier to clean and even cheaper than the Champion. But the Champion is a good juicer and both make ice cream.
-
saying a masticating does NOT do wheatgrass is inaccurate. you don't get as MUCH juice from the wheatgrass... but you DO get some juice!
