    Default Parasites

I read and hear so much about parasites, and "that black rubbery substance lining the colon".

What do you think? Yes, I know this is not our favorite topic but I am really curious about parasites.

It seems if all of that is in there, it would show up when we have a colonoscopy, and it has never been mentioned to me. The dr always says to my husband as well as to me that everything looks great and no polyps, etc., etc. If all of this other stuff were there, how would he know if there are polyps?

But if there should be parasites there, it would certainly be unhealthy.

If you believe we all have parasites, etc., what is a good way to deal with the situation?

I was recently told that swallowing about 6 papaya seeds per day clears parasites and keeps you clear.
I understand that they do it in Asia as a preventive measure.
    I must google it.

The papaya seeds are so lush looking and they spill out of the papaya like fish eggs. I hated to waste them and read that some people use them as spice as they have strong peppery flavor. There was also some warning though (which I cannot remember.) So I tested them on the dogs who love fruits and vegetables and they would not touch them - so I followed their lead. Perhaps it IS good for parasites. Let us know what you find!

A website that talks about parasites and is very interesting.

According to this website, papaya seeds taste very "hot". That may be why the dog would not eat them!

It seems that all we need do is begin to incorporate some of these foods into our daily diet and have prevention of parasites. Very interesting.

"Papaya seeds even though have a deworming action, is not advisable to consume. A toxic substance called carpine is present in traces in black seeds of papaya. Carpine in large quantities is said to lower the pulse rate and depress the nervous system. This substance is only found in papaya seed and that too in very small quantity. The fleshy part of the fruit is completely free from this toxic substance. Hence, once the seeds are removed the delicious fruit can be safely eaten."

This quote from a website I found when I googled Papapa Seeds is interesting. Maybe we would be better off to not use them in our diet!

I swallow them whole and do not find them even slightly hot.
I doubt if 6 per day will have enough of any substance that can cause harm.

Thanks, Sport. Wanted to know if anyone might be using them.

I still wonder about the parasite question as well. Someone once posted that if your vet recommends that you debug your dog 2X a year why should we not consider for ourselves as well?

I do wish to try a parasite cleanse sometime and have been wondering about food grade diatomaceous earth. Will have to do some more reading on it as I rejected it for getting rid of scorpions because if that type gets in human lungs it can cause severe damage.

well actully kinda funny, Ive been raw for almost 150 days. and i just learned that I had parasites after seeing them float around in my stool. I completely flipped out. I went to my local whole foods store and the woman there told me that 90% of people in the US have parasites they just have no clue. I only knew because the raw diet had killed a few. She said its good to go on a parasite cleanse once every 3 to 6 months. Just to get them out.

    JessCappucci,
Which particular cleanse /product was recommended for you? If you have already tried it, how has it worked for you?

Pumpkin seeds - Traditionally, pumpkin seeds (Curcubita pepo) have been used as a herbal remedy for tapeworms and roundworms. They have been shown to immobilize and help expel intestinal worms and other parasites. In order to be effective, great amounts would have to be eaten, up to 25 ounces for adults. The seeds are usually mashed and mixed with juice. Two or three hours after consuming the pumpkin seeds, a laxative is often recommended to help clear the bowels.

I read this info from googling parasites. There are a lot of "remedies" on that site. This one seemed rather simple and a one time shot. I have not tried any of the products available in the HFS. But there are a lot advertised. If someone has tried anything successful it would be interesting to know about it.

Styersky I think I read the same site. There was a lot of natural ways to try to rid yourself of intestinal worms.
