Planting even more gardens
Dragggon my hubby loves to garden (organic of course) He has a green thumb, mine has always been black, or at least dark brown.
He uses no pestisides, no fertilizers, only crystals and lots of love, water, sunshine and his talking to his friendly flora.
This year we have added yet two more strawberry gardens, one is 10 by 30 feet, the other is 16 by 30 feet, but the squash share this with the strawberries. We already had one 10 by 40 feet.
We make fruit leather that we call scabs for our grandkids, they love to break them into small pieces stick them on their faces and run around grossing each other out, then tearing them off and eating them.
Of course, it was my idea to show them how to do this, as I always thought that food should be alot more fun, than just sitting down and eating it. (I used to say, food should ONLY be consumed naked in bed with your lover -- in fact I still say that).
Okay, back to this thread:
We now have 3 almond trees, 4 apple trees 4 cherry trees, 2 pear trees, 2 apple/pear trees, 2 hazel nut trees. 3 kiwi vines, multitudes of raspberries and blackberries (technically the blackgerries are across the road, although it is our property), 2 onion beds one is 4 X 10 the other is 4 X 50, we have 1 garlic bed 3 X 8, 1 pepper bed 3 X 8, one grape arbor with 6 kinds of grapes, 1 garden for tomatoes, cabbage and lettuce, 16 X 16 (our vortex garden) with huge crystals everywhere, we also have normal gardesn too with junipers, irises, lilacs, 2 rhodie gardens, and grass, decks, patios, high priestess temple, hot tub, stairs, and walkways.
No matter how many gardens we plant, we always seem to want just one more each year, so the grass is slowly being replaced with an abundance of veggies, fruits, and nuts. And since Dragggon mows the lawn, and tends the gardens, I think it's a good thing for him to make the decisions on what goes where.
I used to have lots of grass, and a small 20 X 20 garden, then Dragggon came along, and he figures if it's gonna' have something growin' on it, might as well be edible.
He loves to "be" outside, and often sits and meditates In the High Priestess temple which is open all around, animals will sit on him, next to him, and just plane around him while he is there.
He goes outside every few hours, to just "be" with nature, talk to the plants, pick a few weeds, internally smudge (the evil spirits away) lol (really it's called smoke a cigarette).
Gardening is one of his pleasures in life. When I take a break from my play during the day with my art, or writing my books, I go outside, and walk around our gardens, I can't just walk by a weed, so I must pull it, without knowing it, I will spend two or three hours outside, playing with the plants, before I realize that some time MUST have passed.
So, no matter how big, and adventurous, or small and compact your gardens, try to spend some time walking barefoot each day in the grass and dirt, let the sun shine down upon you, and breath in the fresh air, talk to the plants that you have, and listen to the wildlife around you. You will be surprised at how much this will energize you when you are couped up inside all day.
Also, growing your own food, preparing it, then eating it, while it is so fresh it sings, is one of lifes great pleasures.
I'm jealous. How many people have asked you, if they can come visit? We will have to start some field trips!
We teach lots of classes, so everyonewho comes out, takes at least one full box of produce home. or starts.
