    Default Yummy "Fall" Snack

    Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to share a little recipe with you. Actually it's not really a recipe but just a concoction.

In the past I was an avid consumer of Caramel Apples. Especially in the Fall when all the the apples are coming into harvest. Well, since I cut out all dairy and there is not such "Raw Caramel". I have whipped up the next best thing. I am sure that plenty of you prpbably already do this but just in case there are a few who haven't.

Take what ever apples you like, slice them and dip them in to a mixture of freshly make almond butter + raw honey + cinnamon. SOme people don't agree with using cinnamon so you could omit that but it just makes it a little more comforting.

    Enjoy!
AND especially enjoy the shanging of the seasons. I always hate to see summer go but this year it isn't so bad! Hmmm???

Just curious; what have you encountered as to people not "agreeing" with using cinnamon? Honey, I understand, but why cinnamon? Is it because it has a stimulating element? It is actually very therapeutic, especially for diabetics and hypoglycemics...

I make a similar concoction with Dried Turkish Apricots and Honey Dates...I soak them and blend them with the Almond Butter, a dash of coconut butter and Cinnamon and then dip the apples in the mixture...it is sort of "caramel-y" and very rich!

Concious Cusine - I personally love cinnamon and do use it often. The things that I have read about it have been mostly because of it's stimulating effects and also because of teh way it is sometimes dried. I just try to purchase good quality herbs when I purchase them dry and I feel okay about that .
Also, I wanted to thank you for your recipe. I am going to try it tonight. Carmel is probably my most missed sweet snack! Have a great day!

I too love cinnamon and I agree about purchasing quality, sun or low heat dried organic spices...it's important!

Thanks for sparking off this thread of yummy delights!

As a Vegan (even when I was a cooked-food Vegan) caramel was missed! I created cooked-Vegan versions that were incredible, but I won't share that here...

I am always looking for ways to create what flavors and textures are missed from a "cooked" diet. I love this forum as a way to share and learn together and from each other! :) Great ideas feed great ideas! :)
