Fried Hair.
Hi, not sure which area to place this post, but anyway.I had a perm and hated it so I did a reverse perm at home, and now my hair is fried. Are there any home remedies to do? I heard putting eggs in your hair helps.Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Pat.

There are lots of oils that help. You can put olive oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil on your hair before bed and wash it out in the morning or you can just leave it on for a few hours. There are probably other good oils for hair, too, but those are the ones I alternate between.

There is an older product called Infusium that you can get at Walmart. It is very liquid so you can go to a dollar store and get a spray bottle to put it in. It will help you comb through your hair and make it shiny - leave on for styling.
Get a 2nd spray bottle while you are at it and go to Newstarget.com and order you some of those soap nuts they just got in. Make a shampoo out of several nuts in the spray bottle - it will be the gentlest on your hair for cleansing until you get healthy hair again.

I second the jojoba oil, it has SAVED my extremely damaged hair.
24hrs before i wash, i completely SOAK my head in jojoba oil, then cover with a hairnet. And SLEEP on it.
Gently wash out in the morning. It will ALL come out easily, you will be surprised.
Sincerely, if you do this twice a week, in a month your hair will be like silk.
It might seem all a bit daunting, but it 100% works.
Also only wash your hair no more than twice a week. take care;)

Two words: Green Smoothies
no, not on your hair, IN your mouth. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's more then two words.

You can do all of the above. I recommend getting a GOOD hair cut. Next time you get a tight curl, just run some of the perm lotion back through it and neutalize............

You didn't mention what kind of hair you have?
Coconut oil. Put a ton in your hair and leave in over night (put a hat on to keep it off your pillows). And stop using shampoo - it will just further dry out your hair. Just water rinse and allow the oil to dissipate naturally from your hair.
the next thing is avocado. Put it right on your hair. It will be hard to get out of your hair but it will definatley moisturize it. Leave it in 15 minutes and rinse out with water. Your hair will still be oily after but let it dissipate by itself instead of shampooing it out. Just keeping water rinsing everyday until it is gone. Your hair will be soft and silky.
If you have African American hair, try shea butter - super for dry coarse hair but very heavy.
And no offense to the person who posted this but don't use Infusium. Sure it seems like it works but it is nothing but chemicals - it basically just will coat your hair and make it look better. The only way to truely fix fried hair is to cut it off but while you waiting for healthy new growth to appear - use natural things only in it and treat it very gently.
Also start taking MSM if you don't already that will help with makeing your hair strong and the new hair will grow in stronger.
Good Luck!

This young girl was on Oprah. If in NY her stuff is sold at Walmart. Her story should be at that site too.
The blog may have her story:

I use her shampoo, her oil and conditioner. I don't have your problem but very dry hair so may take some of these ideas. I always had dry hair all my life. I do some fats in my diet, but still...........
Maybe I need to follow with MSM shared here. Can you do too much MSM? Is it powder? Pill? Thanks.

Queenfluff, no offense taken. You are correct. I just had a mess with the coconut oil and no patience for it to dissipate. I remember your no poo contributions and I have not been able to go there yet - especially recently detox is odorous! So I guess I backslid to product that was under the bathroom sink anyway. (I don't get it on the scalp - just the ends that are tangling.)
Carol, that is so impressive for such a young girl!

Coconut oil is the only thing that will actually change the protein structure of the hair. I recommend putting it on, letting it sit there for a half an hour or so and then washing it out with a mild shampoo. You might then add a tiny amount of coconut oil back to the ends only. If you use too much your hair will look greasy.

Thanks everyone,by the way I have long blonde hair.Where do I buy jojoba and coconut oil? Pat
-
You can buy at you local co-op or HFS. For jojoba oil, look in the vitamin section of the store. Coconut oil should be in the section with the oils or baking goods.
For the question about MSM, no you can not over do it. MSM only stays in the body for 12 hour periods. David Wolfe takes 3 tablespoons a day which is a lot. So you can't OD on it. But it is bitter tasting so you probably won't wnat to take that much.
It comes in capsule form with powder in it or powder form. You can add it to smoothies or water. It has a bitter taste so add to smoothies if the taste bothers you.
There are lots of thread on MSM on here so just do a search to find out more.

Well, I guess if you can't fry your food,
You can fry your hair!!;)
Sorry, I'm thinking of the french fries at last nights dinner that I didn't eat.

oh boy... not fun --- I've heard that jojoba does work...
but I think I would try coconut oil ... instead of wearing a hat to bed (which would make me nuts --- ) just put a towel over your pillow.
well - now that we know you are going thru this - you're gunna be the experiement!! let us know what you try - and what helps!
and as soon as possible - I'd get my hair cut so you get all the dead stuff of - when it's grown out enough... and then make sure you're taking bvitamins, bcomplex and b12... and BIOTIN... 2,000 or 3,000 mcgs of biotin... well... 1000 mcg's 2 or 3 times a day ...it will really give you strong healthy hair and nails.
good luck...;)
