Raw almonds?
Hello everybody I'm new here, an only 100% raw for a week. So this might be a silly question...... what is exactly raw nuts and where can I buy them. I'll like to prepare almond milk. I'm doing baby steps ... so basically my breakfast is a slice banana with apple mid day I snack on coconut, lunch is a salad and snack on coconut or watermelon and dinner is shredded squat with a tomato salsa or paste. Oh, of course water all day. I love nut but I'm not exactly sure about where to buy it. I'm always buy it in a can unsalted, But I guess this will be consider process already, I bought bulk from the only health store in this area but I'm not sure if they are raw or not they couldn't really answer my question at the store. So can some body help!!!! Thanks

Ohhh...a valley girl!!!! (I'm originally from Brownsville!)
If you don't mind shopping online, there are tons of great sites that sell nuts.
I've bought from http://www.bulkfoods.com/ before.
for any other info run a search using the banana at the top of your screen, but basically, the product must be labeled raw.

NOt sure how big your family is, but since we have a family of 6, the best thing for us was to join a buying club. Most things are organic, subscribe to the big book and get monthly orders you pick up locally. Lots of different things, from cayenne pepper to chemical free diapers/wipes, and everything in between. At great prices, the only catch is, for example, you need to buy a pound of cayenne pepper! 5lbs of almonds... 12 bags of organic frozen fruit:) I have a friend who shares all kinds of orders with me though, so it works out great. We use a different company for all fresh organic produce, but I think it's linked to this same company, so they may have that info available for your area, our pickup is the same time same place for produce and our other groceries.

We also buy nuts and other raw products from www.amazon.com

I bought raw almonds from here: California Almonds
They do have free shipping if you order 10 lbs, which may sound like a lot but isn't really for a raw foodist. I put mine in large mason jars in the refrigerator and they should stay fresh for months. They are not-pasteurized, but not organic either.
Also, if a nut butter is raw it should say so. I made mine own so I know they are raw. I haven't tried this place but you can get nut butters from here: Living Tree They are pricey but look like they have quality products.
