Default Raw Food diet affect Menstrual Cycle?

    Hi everyone,

I had a question about if the menstrual cycle may cease after eating a raw food diet for a month or more? I wanted to know if this is common byproduct of eating raw for women.

    Thanks,
    Ailah

I can't say if it's 'normal' or not...however I started eating raw about a month and a half ago and haven't had a period.

i missed mine too uh i don't know how to approach it in terms of "normal" or not.

Seems like it happens, but then it gets back to normal, less painful, shorter periods... I hope so anyway

For me I stopped taking depo provera because I didn't want the hormones anymore. I was on it before, and when I stopped that time I bled heavily for two weeks!!! This time, around the time that is normal I started up again and it was 3 days long and painless. That was four or five months ago, and they've all been on schedule and short and painless.

Default my experience w/raw food & menstruation

I've experimented for several months. The first time it I ate 100% raw for 1.5 months and my period stopped. As soon as I ate cooked food my period came back. The 2nd time it only took 1 month of raw food diet for my period to cease. and every time I ate cooked food my period would come back.

I've been a vegan for 5 years, vegetarian 7 yrs before that and have practiced juice and water fasting for the past 5 yrs. When I shifted from vegetarian to vegan diet I definitely noticed lighter periods, shorter days, and less cramps. Shifting from cooked vegan diet to raw foods my periods initially shortened to 1 day with no pain and smooth flow.

I'm interested in seeing what other results people have had and if anyone knows of any literature regarding this? I've done some research and havent found too much. Few sources claim that period is a way to release toxins in the body and when you eat raw foods and detox then the period is not necessary.

I am now in week #11 of raw and in the midst of my 3rd period since going raw. I have not skipped a period, but the cramps and breast tenderness have decreased.

decreasing my menstrual pain is the primary reason i stumbled upon raw food.
i pray it gets better next month.
last week was one of the worst because since i stopped eating junk, i thought i could let up on the pain meds.
    boy was i wrong.
so hopefully next cycle while being 100% i will have better luck
    i am crossing my fingers

My period this time around has lasted for 2 weeks and I am thankful my body is doing whatever it needs to for healing. That being said, having a 2 week long period sucks.

This was my first period raw... I 'm just 3 days shy of being 1 mo. 100% raw and WOW what a difference! No PMS, no headache, and best of all NO CRAMPS! Yes!

Being Vegan, I didn't have much of a problem, but it's wonderful to have absolutely no symptoms or discomfort!

I hope it stays like this!

I'm using teas targeting the cycle as a base for my green smoothies.
