Hey Fellow Juicers
Hi- I'm wondering who's juicing what, how much and how often. I make green lemonade several times a week and enjoy a substantial boost to my well-being and energy with that. I read that David Wolfe says to juice two pounds of greens a day! That's some serious greenage. I've gotten away from juicing carrots like I used to. And lately I'm thoroughly enjoying adding a pear to my green lemonade.

I juice almost every day. I always start with a base of apples, carrots and ginger. Then, I add whatever might be handy...beet, celery, parsley, spinach, peppers (red, yellow, or green) and sometimes lemon or lime. Not all of these at the same time though!! I haven't ventured very far from this.
I use my blender to make fruit smoothies and green smoothies...but just getting into green smoothies, I'd rather drink the greens as juice for right now.
Til He returns, or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Welcome and congratulations! Going Raw is one of the most important things I've ever done in my life. Glad you got the book. I've read more than a dozen books on the raw lifestyle and I rank that the number one priority to have. Do you have a blender? Okay, throw in a couple of bananas, a mango, and a handful of spinach and some ice and water. Whiz that baby up in the blender, and tah dah! You just joined the green smoothie revolution sweeping Raw America!
Gotta juicer? I just love green lemonade. I'm a housecleaner and if it wasn't for the green drinks, I wouldn't have the energy to do labor-intensive work like I do. Try:
- one to three apples
- one pear
- a good handful of kale or spinach or chard or collards or parsley or cilantro
- or instead or with two stalks of celery or half a cucumber
- And, a lemon. If it's organic, cut it into small pieces and juice the whole thing, peel and all. If not, I squeeze in the juice.
Try the above to experience a nutritional high you never dreamed possible.
So, welcome to RFT. there's a lot of fun and healing here for you to discover.
Love, Stina

That sounds really nice. I have a blender and a smoothie maker but not a juicer so smoothies seem to make sense to me! I'm not a great fan of banana in smoothies ... I tend to leave them to eat straight from the skin - it's a texture thing I think!!

Every day for me!!!
I find I prefer juices over green smoothies most of the time... I'll usually have juice in the morning...right now I am doing a semi fast, actually fasting all day with juice then having a raw dinner (but by the time that rolls around I am rarely hungry). I read we can work up to 40 - 60 oz/day! Thats a whole lot, but the idea is the flood the body with enzymes. I know I feel a huge difference from juicing..
My fave combinations are:
rainbow chard (6-8 leaves)
apples (3 med size)
celery (5 stalks)
lemon (1 whole w/skin)
ginger (as much as you can take!)
or
carrot/ginger (soo good and I use the pulp for carrot cake)
or
Pineapple/ginger
or
cantelope/strawberry (i know, no mixing melons w/other fruits but I never had a problem)
or
just a watermelon (skin and all)

I'm juicing loads of apples and celery lately...
i love to add catus pears to the juice also, it gives it a sweet flavor along with the apples sweetness.

I don't juice that often (it's a hassle to clean out the juicer!). I had juice today, though. Kale, carrot, apple, and cranberry. It was pretty tart (I don't think I've ever had raw cranberries before)!
I maybe have juice once a week? I'd like to do it more. I do have smoothies, though.
