Thread: Dreads

    Default Dreads

Does anyone here have dreads? Do you like them? Would you do it again? I have been looking around on knottyboy.com and there are a ton of great pics there.
    Thx!

I've had synthetic ones made for me and installed them myself. I lovelovelove and adore having dreads! I really want to do it again, but synthetic dreads are so much more of a pain to deal with (smelly, etc.) than real ones. I've never had real ones, though. But at least you can thoroughly wash real ones without it being a pain in the butt!

joyful, it's not cool anymore to call them Dreads due to sad history.

It's a little offensive to some actually, so I'd suggest to call them locks.

It really depends on WHO you ask regarding the whole "Dreads" thing.

Rastafarians proudly wear the name, "dread" or "dreadlock" as they see it as their hair is dreaded by others and not that it is dreadful.

I, personally, don't find the term offensive at all...I'll say dreads, locks, or just hair.

I've had mine for 6 years now and love them dearly! Besides going natural (giving up chemical relaxers), locking my hair is the BEST hair decision I've ever made!

I had locks for a few months then they got nasty...totally my fault, I coloured them several times in a week and then got into a swimming pool (which I cant stand by the way). I had to brush them out...I will be locking up again in probably by Christmas

I had dredlocks years ago and loved them. My hair was half way down my back and when the dredding process was done, I lost eight inches of length and had short, cute, fat, little dreds. Everyone should have dreds, it would be such a beautiful world!
