    Default Sprouting Apple Seeds

I am trying to sprout apple seeds but so far I havn't had much luck. I have had a small % sprout but most of the seeds just sit there and do nothing. How long should I be soaking them ? Any ideas or suggestion appreciated.

To plant? Just soak for about three days (no need to wait for them to sprout) - I've now got six seedlings out in pots right now. ~ Cathy

Are you planting them? Or sprouting them to eat? And where did you get the seeds from? If from apples at the grocery store, they might not have a very good sprouting rate. You don't know if they were subjected to refrigeration or what.

Don't eat them. They will make you sick.

I have been getting the seeds from the apple core when I eat an apple. I would like to have a few apple seeds sprout each day so that I can eat them for the vitamin B17. Here's a link to some info about vitamin B17 as a preventive if anyone is interested in that:

I had heard that apple seeds contain trace amounts of cyanide that could make you sick...couldn't quickly find any information though.

Default Rise in cancer since we stopped eating fruit cores!

It has been said that there has been a 30% rise in the cancer rate since we stopped eating the cores of our domestic fruits. The trace amounts of cynanide or arsenic in apple seeds is very minor and will not hurt you in the least.
Eat up! Just not in quantity, you are better just to eat the seeds as they are then not at all.

Hi everyone! I actually got a real job and now don't have time to get online much! Hope all is well!

That's interesting. I heard of a man who saved apple seeds in a jar, then ate them and died. Also heard that it's good to eat a few for headaches instead of aspirin.

I wonder how big a jar ? If it was a quart jar that would be about a million seeds I would think cause apple seeds are so small. Why did he save them up and eat all of them at once ? why not just eat them as he got them ?

I chew up the seeds each time I eat an apple. We also eat the inside of peach and plum stones at the same time as eating the fruit.

I ate the seeds all the time as a kid. Supposed to prevent cancer. Never ate more than one apple per day though, if that. I don't think it is necessary to sprout them.

I've eaten them and lived! I too eat the middles of apricots, peaches and nectarines - like almonds

I eat apple seeds all the time. I add apples, including seeds, to my smoothies. I also throw seeded grapes in my smoothies.

Yes, they are cyanide (in large doses). But Yes, they are also beneficial (in small doses) as are other seeds. My mom goes to an integrative hospital and has learned much about B17. She even has a cookbook called the "cyanide cookbook" (not all raw though)

2 things that are important: The seeds should be eaten with the fruit itself, not separated from it. The seeds should be eaten in small doses.
