Shininjatti, just remember to eat what you want - as long as it is raw! If you are hungry- eat. Stop counting calories. If you do eat something non-raw, don't sweat it, just start eating raw again. Keep coming back to this board, as it helps alot.

    Blessings.

There are lots of threads on juice fasts on this forum. Try using the Search tool; you'll find such an abundance of information! Of course, there are great books on it, too!

Best of luck. Have you been raw for a while ... ?

I did a juice fast for about 2 weeks mainly because I am doing a chemo type treatment right now and I have no appetite or energy to make meals so juicing made more sense to get the nutrients in.

I did go through a detox stage but after that it really cleaned out my digestion system and made me feel great. I have had IBS for the last 6 yrs and it is amazing how raw or juicing can turn that around...

Like the other member said, do a search...I am sure there is some great info here.

    Best of luck,

    Judi

Ditto on what has been written :Search, Search - there is advice, recipes, and examples here to assist you.

I prepare my juices in advance - like tonight for tomorrow - that allows me not to have to figure it out, although it is advised to prepare them and drink them right away, I do not want to take that luxury, as I may not follow through, so for me, this works - it is just there and good to go. I feel like I am accomplishing what my intention is.

I also do blended drinks - Victoria Boutenko's green drinks are posted in that I started.

http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1870 ands there is an excellent reference like the 2nd or 3rd post - that will assist you as well

    Best Wishes

Just getting caught up with my email and just read this -- When people go on juice fasts, however, they usually drink only juice and water.

But -- um, gee, ya know, you can drink whatever you want ... or eat, for that matter.

First of all, to be technical, drinking juices of any kind is not considered fasting. Fasting is pure water ~ where there is nothing to be assimilated.

When drinking juices, one's body is still digesting and assimilating nutrients ~ the opposite of what one does with a fast which is giving the body a rest from having to do anything.

As far as alcohol goes, I think you know the answer to that or you wouldn't call it a "dumb" question.

You don't EVER "need" to have a drink or two. As an adult, you have a choice. Ummm, have some cake too, 'k?

Well, a water fast, technically means no water, and a juice fast means no juice, but just to keep it easy, as we all say it backwards.

We'll say a water fast is ONLY water, and a juice fast is ONLY juice, since that seems to be what most people are referring to.

And you aren't dumb for asking this question, but I don't think that anyone "needs" a drink, and if you hang out with people where you feel you "need" to drink, then why do you hang out with them. Just a thought.

Anyway, the best thing to do is to rest, fasing is not about partying, it is about cleansing, and cleaning out toxins and junk in your system.

It is best if you relax, and rest, and meditate, and be calm.

However, when I was young and crazy, I did all kinds of things, like not eat, smoke, stay out all night for days in a row, never sleep, so you probably will too, or at least some of those things.

But, have fun, don't drink and drive, try to take it easy, drink only fresh fruit juices and water, no bottled juices please.

And most of all enjoy your life.

    Default thanks

thanks for the insight raw priestess...and understanding that at 22 i don't want to miss out on being young just cuz i'm going raw or on a juice fast...but i think your very right about the rest thing, i think i need more sleep while doing this fast because it's really beginning to make me weak.

    Default another thing

if your on this board again priestess.....smoking particularly...is it dangerous while fasting, i mean obviously i know its toxic and is kind of reverse to what you fast for....but if i have a cigarette maybe once, is it gonna kill me?

oh and about the people i'm hanging out with...its not them making me drink...they're great people...but i just associate a drink with celebration...and the link is still there so i feel like if its a birthday or an anniversary i should have a glass of wine or maybe 2 :-) other than that, i don't even drink.

YES!!! IT WILL KILL YOU!!! (Not instantly though) I'm sure you know the answers already, but if you are wanting to acheive better health through fasting and raw foods, you should really consider giving up what you know is not good for you!!! Yes, you should still enjoy being "young" (I'm 25) but I would rather live longer because of the GOOD choices I'm making while I'm young!!! :)

Food for thought!!! Enjoy the party!!!
