    Default Sprouting Question

Where does one buy the mesh to cover the wide mouth jars for sprouting? Thanks!

They are found in most HFS.

I don't use them anymore. I just put a piece of cheescloth over the top secured with a rubber band on my jars. Works great.

You could check at a hardware store and cut it yourself. I now use a fine strainer and put the sprouts back in the bowl after I drain them.

I use an old steam stack for large seeds and a sprouter stack for small ones but I always found the netting used for underskirts very useful for jars.

Cut pieces of old (clean or not - your choice) pantyhose and rubberband them on or if using a regular "canning" jar, screw the ring on.

    OR

    Paint straining bags work well.

    OR

Alissa sells sprouting bags in her store.

    Default You don't need it

Just soak your grains in a bowl.

After the required time, strain the grains and put them back into the bowl.

Cover the bowl with a clean dish towel and rinse them every few hours.

    Watch em sprout!

No mesh or special equipment needed at all!
