    Default Harvesting Nuts!

What do I do with nuts I pick up off the ground? Do I scrape off the skin and eat right away? Or let them dry? I asked this in a different post but thought I'd ask it here. Thanks!

    Smasty,

Here in Texas when we gather pecans and black walnuts off the ground we just pick the ones with the outer husks that are dried up. Take the nut out of the husk and crack it open and eat it. When the husks are still green, we don't eat those. Too hard to get the nut out.

    hope that helped....kirk

Ah...these are mostly green. That's what I was wondering. So I should just hold onto the ones I have till they turn brown and shrivel up, it sounds like.

Yep, when the green covering turns brown or black it should split and release the nut.
