    Default Another Introduction

    Hi everyone,

My name is Edda and I am new to this board. I am in my ninth week of eating raw and am really loving this new way of life.

Approximately 5 years ago I went on the Hallelujah Diet which is about 85% raw, lost 50 lbs. and felt better than ever. I was able to get off my medication for high blood pressure. I stayed on it for 1 1/2 years then got married to someone who eats the traditional S.A.D. and especially loves sweets, the more the better. I gradually allowed more and more cooked food into my diet and eventually was back to where I started. I had to resume my medication to control my BP.

This summer I began thinking about raw eating again and through various circumstances just sort of jumped into it with both feet. My husband is very supportive, but has not changed the way he eats. Sometimes it's very hard to see all his food sitting around. Breads are especially hard for me to ignore, but I have done well so far.

I'm a 51 year old R.N. I've been a nurse for 30 years. I don't really know how to do anything else, but find it hard to reconcile the traditional approach to health and disease with my newly found convictions. Sometimes I think I need to find some other line of work. I will have to work through it, I suppose.

I have two grown sons and one wonderful six month old grand-daughter. I live in southwest Michigan and am going to see the Boutenkos on October 4th with AJ, who also posts on this board. This will be a very encouraging and motivating thing for me.

Here are some of the positive changes I have noticed already:

    1. reduced perimenopausal symptoms: no more night sweats, fewer hot
    flashes
    2. a much calmer and more positive spirit.
    3. some weight loss
    4. waking up early and feeling wide awake with no sluggishness
    5. no more headaches
    6. no more heartburn and indigestion

I am looking forward to contributing to this board and getting to know you all.
    Edda

    Hi Edda,

I'm glad to see you over here! Welcome to this board as well, now we'll get to chat at two places.

You are doing so well, I'm looking forward to hearing more postives about your raw journey!

(Helen/Edda, I'm having trouble getting onto our other board, so that's why I haven't been around, I'll keep trying to figure it out though) ;)

Edda, we'll have to talk before Monday probably, so why don't you send me an e-mail and we can talk about our plans. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.
AJ, I foolishly deleted your e-mails without putting you in my address book. Is there some way you can get your e-mail address to me....maybe through Helen? I know we need to make final plans. I am really looking forward to meeting the Boutenkos.

    Smile Graphic topic

    Hi EhartmanF,

Welcome to the board. Glad to see a healthcare professional here.

Earlier today I chopped off the tip of my finger with a kitchen knife. The hospital staff was very nice , though they could not save the tip of my finger. Friday I have an appointment with a surgeon to see if anything can be done. It hurts.

The nurses were great and I recieved very special treatment.

The things we do for raw. I was cutting up some veggies and it only took one slip of the knife.

I drove myself to the hospital. The guy at the desk rushed me right in.Too cool. I was really bleeding.

Oh I hope it grows back.

    Peace and knife safety,

    Your Pal M.B.

Default MB - missing finger tip

    Hi MB,

I'm so sorry about your finger!!!! OUCH!!!!! To be rushed right in, it must have been a pretty nasty chop! Yet you had the sound mind to drive yourself there - must be that raw diet ;)
