Default Dogs and digestion of raw fruits and veggies?

    Hi--

Just wondering if those of you who include raw fruits and veggies in your dogs diets, is there anything you do to assist with digestion of these foods? I know blending can help, but my pup doesnt really like stuff "mush" or "liquid", loves chunks of raw fruits and veggies, whole apples, bananas, blueberries, spinach, carrots, broccoli, peppers, etc, but some of these seem to come out the other end without having been digested... She also likes sunflower seeds and nuts, which I have seen people mention feeding, but these too do not always seem to be digested, even sprouted sunflower seeds--(then again, if I dont chew well enough, they come out of me without having been digested as well...hmmmm....). So for those of you who feed these things, do your dogs digest them well and/or do you prepare them in particular ways to help digestion?

    Thanks much.

    Hey, Kaybee.

Dogs don't have the necessary enzymes to break down the cell walls of plant materials. In order for them to get nutritional benefit from it, we must break it down for them - i use my VitaMix to make a "green smoothie" of sorts for my dog, with a raw egg yolk thrown in.

He gets all kinds of fruits and veggies in there and laps it up like crazy.

    good luck.

He he I am almost 40 days raw and have to fight with both of my Dogs for the yummy stuff I make!

My dogs are on Eagle Pack holistic and I would never switch them to totally Raw.

However, all their table scraps are raw now!

No adverse effects their poops are still really nicely formed, no odd things "sprouting" lol

    He he he he
