Hey Doug . . . Hope you are still progressing after your surgery. Glad my surgical procedure is over. It has been 2 1/2 weeks now and I am doing well. Ready to get back to serious about weight loss, etc.

From other posts of yours I have read, it seems that you follow the acid-alkaline principles. I read in Dr. Young's book that one can lose a pound per day and before your surgery that is what you were doing? So I am curious. And in the beginning when I was losing that is pretty much what I was doing.

It seems that sweet fruits are acid. So lemon and grapefruit would be the only acceptable fruits, correct? Do you never have sweet fruit in your green smoothies? I have a problem getting a taste I like without sweet fruit.

If I am not asking too much, I would appreciate any information to help me get started losing, and find a smoothie without sweet fruits.

My healing process has been very good and the surgeon is "amazed" so I definitely want to continue in the direction I am headed.

Thanks for your encouragement and information for all of us.

Well you never put your name on the bottem. So I don't know what your name is. Ok now on to the smoothie. I don't use sweet fruits in them at all. I put tomato celery and bell pepper and to make it sweet I put a packet of Stevia in it. It is a really good base for your smoothie too. You will like it. As for eating fruits the berries are the ones I like. I have a pear now and then too. I like goji berries with strawberries in a smoothie just with the two of them. Lemon juice and Grapefruit juice really help alot too. Plus don't forget your water too. I sure hope your feeling better. I am just now starting to get better on my treadmill. Been on there all week an hour a day. still not 100% yet but getting much better now. Talk to you soon I miss seeing you on my posts too. Your friend Doug in Calif........

Ditto that. I had to just put things like tomato and cucumber in with the green juice for a long time cuz my body rejected fruit. I did not use stevia. I even made salsa smoothies with avocado in it!

Thanks, Doug. It seems that most people put a lot of fruit in their smoothies and I was having a problem with that idea. Really appreciate your input.

I am doing well since the surgery. It has now been 3 weeks. Occasionally I have a difficult day, but every time I have a good day it is better than the last good day. Today has been a very good dayl In another 3 weeks maybe I can start some exercise. It seems I will not lose no matter what unless I am exercising.

    Thanks a Bunch!

Well I just got off the treadmill. I was on there for 61 mins and did 2 1/2 miles Pretty good I was at speed 2.6 mph too. I made a nice grapefruit smoothie. Now talk about good oh they are really good. The pick ones are a little sweet so it is really a good taste. It sure made me feel good too. I like lemonaide too. I have to do more of these things to get back to losing more weight. If you eat to much of the sweet fruits and have to many Nuts you won't lose weight. I here some people saying there gaining weight. If I am going to have fat I want a nice Avocado, now that is a very good for you food. When I was losing a pound a day I was having two of them a day too. I eat alot of tomatoes too. I can't wait till spring when I get back to bowling again. It is lots of exercise and so much fun too. Best part is my wife likes it too. In Nov, we will be married for 32 years. Wow time flys. I met her when she was 11. I never thought she would end up being my wife. How about that. Our birthdays are coming up fast mine is Oct 2nd, and hers is Oct 21st I will be 57 and she will be 51 I sure don't feel that old. Talk to you all soon and thanks for putting your name on the bottom Darlene. Doug in Calif....... :)

Doug, you are amazing. I just read your other post also from yesterday. Sorry to be "late" in replying to this thread.

I learn so much from how you eat. And I am amazed at your exercise determination. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be back with my exercise, but I am never as faithful to exercise as you. Maybe in time you will get me motivated to keep up with you ! ! ! I just do not lose weight without exercising. And when I am exercising for some reason I am more motivated to eat like I want to eat.

    Keep posting and motivating!

    Doug,

Thanks for keeping the thread going. I actually forget to go the the over 50 area--kind of log in and pull up today's posts out of habit.

Doug, you are an inspiration to keep on keeping on--thank you.

Hope you are enjoying your juicer. Have not done too much juicing the last couple years although have become quite addicted to green smoothies. I remember greatly enjoying lemonade which was made with I believe half a lemon (seeds removed and the entire lemon--rind and all juiced). Then juice a couple sweet apples with it and greatest lemonade in the world over ice.

Well, I made the commitment to self to get in better physical shape and have joined the gym. Now to just get my butt over there and treadmill, etc.

Will make a point to check in here more often. Hope everyone is doing well.

Default Over 50, RAW and loving it!

    Hey Doug,
I am so encouraged by your weight lost! I have been raw for 5 months and have lost 25 pounds. I have been stuck at 180.6 pounds for about 2 1/2 weeks. I am not sure what is wrong. The doctor was very hapy with my weight loss and cut back on my blood pressure medication. That was a happy day. I am hoping to be taken off my Lipator when I go back. She (my doctor) is thinking about it I will wait and see. I went raw to improve my health and that is happening but I want to lose weight also. My birthday is in February and I hope to weigh 160 anything, Even 169.9 would make my heart sing.
You keep me posted on your progress and I will keep you posted on mine.

Yes Doug. another belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and your wife. I will be 59 in January and I only feel like I am in my late teens to early twenty's. Is pink grapefruit still acidic, even though it is sweet?

    Default Graprfruit Smoothie

    Doug,
I have stopped losing weight after 25 pounds How do you make the Grapefruit Smoothie? I would like to know if you sweeten your lemonaide. If you do, with what? I have added walking on the treadmil each day for exercise. I hope that will help. With the increase in exercise, I have noticed an increase in my appetite. Did that happen to you as well? Look to hear from you soon,

    Lucky Lady
