    Default Buckwheat sprouting help...please

    I bought buckwheat (Organic Buckwheat - sprouting - whole kernel http://www.sunorganicfarm.com/Mercha...Category_Code=)

    I am trying to sprout buckwheat (in a bowl) for alissa's easy crust pizza. It's been almost 48 hours since the soaking ended and some of the kernels have little white tails, but others look the same, except bigger from the soaking. Are the kernels supposed to lose the dark brown part and open up like some other sprouts do?

    I just started sprouting another batch in the SproutMaster to see if there's anything different this time. So far, it looks like it will be the same as the first batch.

    Is this how they're supposed to look or did I get a bad batch or do something wrong?

    These aren't the groats.

    Hey there. Buckwheat are strange little sprouting things. Sounds like they have sprouted perfectly. You've been rinsing, right? They don't "open up" like say alfalfa and lose their hull, and they get very teeny "nubs" (tails if you will). I'd say they are ready to use. When I sprout buckwheat in my Freshlife sprouter - it's ready overnight! It's all that rinsing, I'm sure...

    Ohhhhh. Ok. Yes, I've been rinsing several times each day. I've been waiting for something 'more' to happen. Thanks Veganforlife! I can make the pizza now. :)

    Default All you need is love

    When sprouting, you don't need to see long tails.

    All you need to see is a little white nub...

    I personally use a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe to check them twice a day.

    Be sure and rinse and drain sprouting seeds and nuts several times each day.
