What do you guys do for school lunches?
School is getting closer.......What do you guys pack for lunch? I'm in public school so they have a cafeteria but I'm going to bring my own food cause all they have is like wilted lettuce
-
I too work for a school system, but not in a school - in the central office. Do they have a fridge? You could make veggies and dips. Or onion bread or cracker and tomatoes and avocados and sprouts. Fruit salad. Burgers (which freeze well). Or wraps - using collard greens as the wrap and fillings of your choice. The choices are endless.

fruit's super easy, sometimes i just pack some cut up fruit or whole fruit like apples. if i have more time though i'll make a salad and a dressing and throw in a lara bar or a couple bananas for dessert :)

Dried fruit and nuts. The combinations are endless. You can make up your own snack mix, or buy it raw at a HFS. Some of the raw mixes they have are really wonderful because they store well and are easy to eat.
Also, the raw chili floating around here is really tasty. You could pack that in a wide mouth thermos. The corn salad is very good, as well as salsa and chips.

Trail mix got me through high school. I usually made my own. Carried a bag of it in my purse and then I didn't have to worry about food for the day.

Clementines
or tangerines...or mandarins...tiny citrus!!
I load up a paper lunch bag with them and eat them throughout the day. I lived on these last semester!! Theyre so tiny and cute and fun to eat! I mastered getting the peel off in one piece! haha
-
I also like taking brownies---equal parts walnuts and pitted dates with cacao powder. I did this the other day and it was a very nice treat while I wass studying between classes!
-
Apples, nuts, bananas, peel-able clementines. Thats what I live on during the semester. No joke.
Thennn I come home and make an exquisite salad :)
-
I like making the refried bean recipe with the sunflower seeds (it doesn't need to be refrigerated). I also pack salads, trail mix, and fruit. Today I had the summer corn salad and also some broccoli salad.
Mays goals to exercise at least 5 days a week and have fun doing so.

My kids had golden flax crackers w/pecan butter, bananas and raspberries (new style PB&J).
Mango strawberry fruit leather
Grapes
Thinly slices cukes & mushrooms
Spinich
Celery w/pecan butter
Finally a small piece of chocolate
-
I usually take a bunch of chopped up veggies such as carrots, capsicums, cucumbers, peppers, celery. And then I follow it up with some 'nuts and bolts' (cashews, almonds, cranberries, goji berries, whatever's in the pantry).
-
My kid's and I pack fruit leathers.
-
In a small cooler I just pack a big salad with mixed greens, red cabbage, all different kinds of sprouts and my favorite dressing on the side. I also pack a piece of fruit like an apple or banana and some sunflower seeds because I'm usually in school for long hours. I think bringing more food is better than less and it's best to keep it balanced.
