Yeah, it was pretty gross. Talking about being full of it! I am sure everyone has junk, but I am hoping that the raw food diet takes care of whatever junk I got. If I start feeling bad or have trouble in that area then, and only then will I think about it.

oh i'm so glad you asked! I am currenty using the Arise and Shine products. my girlfriend had left over herbs from the program...by day 6 I got about a 16 inch rope of that "mucoid plaque" out. After years of fasting/juicing/fiber etc. I must tell you I felt like the luckiest girl in the world!

the schedule is pretty rigorous and I got that result even with a modified version of the cleanse. I highly recommend it.

Default How did you feel and other Q's re: colon cleanse

How did you feel while you were doing it.

I bought a program before I started eating raw only about a month ago...Still contemplating using it...

The one I have contemplates 3 days prep...taking a digestive stimulator and cutting down on what one eats over those days.

Then for 6 days taking regularly a powder w/ bentonite, and herbs and drinking only apple juice or clear soup...

I have read that some think that the "rope" is the bentonite...what do you think?

I recall a post here where someone says that it is possible that the product you take is what is forming the material that comes out and not just removing it. Is there not a question mark about the very existance of this plaque.
    Can anyone else remember that.

Default Is it the bentonite or placque?

I read the same thing...that it was the bentonite...not here, but online somewhere...

Anybody have any strong experiences or other evidence of the efficacy of this type of cleanse?

    Would really appreciate the input....too.

I think it's the product forming the material that is coming out. A lot of the products seem to use psyllium and bentonite clay and/or other gel-forming products. I once bought a very expensive colon cleansing product that had pictures and testimonials all over their website about the stuff that was coming out of people. All of the pictures were similar. I took the product for several days. I started feeling like it was the product causing the gunk. So, I did a test.

This is gross...so beware. I looked at my poo and what came out. The poo looked normal and was normal shaped, but I took a plastic fork and pulled it up on a paper plate. I poked around a separated a section that looked different from the rest. Once completely separated and unwound it was a spiral piece that was in the shape of my intestines. It was rubbery and had little red and brown speckles in it. Of course, there was some poo mixed in there too. The test: What I did was pour a mixture of the product that I'd previously ingested into several containers of various sizes and looked at it once it dried. The dried product formed into the exact shape of whatever shape it was poured into and had the same rubbery consistency and speckles in it that came out with the poo. I sent the product back and got a refund. I no longer believe this mucoid plaque theory and believe it is a scam preying upon fear.

good thread, I was curious about that question...and started looking for lab reports or microbiological findings of "mucous plaque" and found none

last weekend, I mixed the bentonite with water and let it sit and did find that it had that same rubbery texture as my rope...questionable. That said, I do still think there is benefit to the herbal cleansing and the fiber/clay mixes just as remedies alone. of course in conjunction with a whole and healthy diet
especially when one is trying to heal the body from years of toxic substances

    Default Been there before

There are quite a number of threads on this topic if you do a search.
Several of us have tried these cleanses with varying results.

    My results?

yes... I got the stringy, rubbery thing coming out of my body into the toilet,

    BUT... (pardon the pun)

I also mixed the stuff up and left it in a glass overnight and it became hard and rubbery ... so I suggest that it is the PRODUCT itself.

Now... this is not to say that it might not draw some impurities out of the colon on the way through... but I've seen MANY real time movies of the inside of people's colons at the hospital and I've NEVER seen anything that resembles this supposed "lining" -- ulcers, sores, growths, yes, but even diseased colons are pink inside with a layer of clear mucous in my experience.

So... unlike the gall-bladder/liver cleanse, which worked awesomely, I did not believe the colon cleanse to be "real."

And, to follow up, we NEED that mucus lining our gut. Without it, the digestive juices would digest our gut and not just the food (that's where ulcers, etc., come from). Leave your mucus alone!

I'm glad to see folks testing things out. Sometimes, it seems like people will fall for anything. I commend ya'll!! <applause, applause>
