Green Star Model #2000

Does anyone on here have this green star 2000. I was thinking of buying a nice juicer, and this one looks good. I would like to hear from some of you that own this one. Let me know how you like it and things like ease of using, Cleaning, is the pulp dry. PLease let me know and thanks Doug in Calif.......:)

We ordered it recently and have been using it for about a week (daily). Dh and I neither one are that impressed... but we're newbies so maybe we just haven't learned yet how to get the most out of it.

The benefit is that you can juice soft fruits & green leafies and get very clear juice. (grape juice is heavenly!) The downside is that you have to clean it pretty often for it to stay clear (after not much more than a quart). It seems, once the screen gets clogged, some pulp spills over into the juice. It's also very slow juicing. We were used to getting juice fast with the Jack LaLanne... but then with what I'm doing, I was straining it so I guess it comes out about the same.

There are a lot of parts (7-8) to clean.

At this point, I wouldn't order it again. But maybe I just need to learn how to use it.

Maybe you'll get more responses from more experienced users...

Thinking I wouldn't be juicing anymore, I sold my Green Star and Green Power juicers. I loved them but, I have since bought a Samson. I like it being light, smaller and very efficient. I have no problem cleaning it. Just need to know the tips such as

Run water through after juicing
Use a turkey baster to get in places that are not so easy
Use a veggie brush (it come with it's own for inside the screens but I like my veggie brush) for the rest.

I feel they're all about the same in cleaning. I love to watch it suck down the green stuff.

Here's one thing ~ IF you can afford and/or find a good commercial juicer with a bigger opening, I'd get that because large leaf stuff is a bit difficult. Wheatgrass goes in beautifully though.

I have it and the pulp is very dry. You need to put a little flax oil in before wheat grass if you want to avoid foam. It is a pain to clean IMO

I have a Green Power "Gold" juicer that I have had for many years and it looks like the same juicer with a different name. It is a very dependable juicer and I use it daily but I only put greens through it as I have a Champion that does carrots and apples and stuff great but the Champion doesn't do the greens well. The Green Power does greens just great. I set up my juicers in the morning and use them all day long. One of the posts above said the screen clogs on them but I have never had this happen and I juice a lot everyday. Possibly the reason my screen dosn't clog is that I only put greens through it and nothing else. Its a real work horse and it squeezes the pulp totally dry. If your looking for a juicer that does a larger variety of produce you may want to keep looking but if your looking for a juicer to do greens this one does a very good job. Thats my 2 cents worth. :)

I Have a Green Power Gold, also.

I am not impressed at all. It is slow juicing and the feeder gets bogged down constantly.

Next time I buy a juicer, I will do more research...maybe a Sampson or a Champion.

I wonder why this Green Power is so slow?

I just wanted to add my recent experience since this topic is here on juicers:)

I have a really old juicer, a juiceman jr, given to me by my Aunt. It's turning even more of an off yellow/beige color it's so old, the switch finally went out on it, (after several lifetimes!) so I had to plug it in and out to shut it off and on, motor still going strong, switch is an easy fix. But just wanted a new one, and bought a Jack Lalanne's Power Juicer, thinking I was "upgrading". My juiceman jr blows that one away, and they're only $50 at target. the JLPJ couldn't even juice plain spinach, just shot it out the port. My JJ spits out dry well ground pulp every time, with lots of juice in the cup. I just started growing wheat grass, so after I'd heard juicers spit grass blades straight out, I bought a wheatgrass juicer too. Then had the recent experience today with the spinach getting spit straight out, so I thought well maybe my JJ will also juice the grass since it did the spinach? IT DID BEAUTIFULLY!!! I layered it with golden delicious apples, and I watched the deep green pour out in layers between apple segments, I'm taking back my WJ back tomorrow! The grass was completely ground/pulverized and my juice was a beautiful deep green color. I did add the little bit of ground pulp that was left through a few times just to be sure all was gotten from the pulp.
2 apples and a small bunch of wheatgrass = 10oz of heaven!!

I had a Juice Man about 8 years ago, paid 250 for it. It was awesome. It did everything well, but not wheat grass. That was a centrifugal juicer (oxidizes the juice immediately, makes the juice more perishable). When then bought a Green Star a few years ago. Love how the juice comes out and how it does wheat grass and any greens; beet tops, lettuces, etc. It is time consuming and a lot of work. The juice is so superior, since it is a tertiating juicer and even has magnets. I have heard great things about the Champion, too. We still use the Green Star and love putting frozen strawberries and frozen bananas for "ice cream", etc. I find that I bring out my Jack Lalaine juicer out so much more, (again a centrifugal juicer) just b/c it is is so much faster and easy to clean since we juice 1 to 2 times per day for a family of four. I do believe that if a person has a disease that they want the better quality juice if they have the strength to use the Green Star or Norman Walker's juicer (very pricey, though). Also, a benefit of the Green Star is that you can juice a large quantity and put it in glass jars with an air tight lid in the fridge and it will last 48 or more hours and still be brightly colored and taste great.

can you tell me what model the juiceman jr is? Sounds like EXACTLY what I'm looking for!
