    Default Prickly-Pear Ice Cream

Mmm, I just made prickly pear ice cream and it turned out so yummy and it was the most beautiful color ever! The seeds were a pain to eat in the ice cream though, that was the only bad thing but once I just decided to swallow the seeds instead of chew them up it wasn't so bad. I also tried a mixture of the prickly pear, banana, strawberry and a little pineapple and it turned out so yummy. I wonder what else I can make with the cactus fruit? I haven't tried dehydrating any but I would think with all those seeds it wouldn't be so good. Anyway just thought I'd post this ice cream thing in the hopes that someone will read it and want to try it out too!

Heehee recipe....umm I just froze a prickly pear cactus overnight and then added some frozen strawberry, pineapple and banana. I don't know the amounts but I suppose just put whatever in it that you like. Prickly pear by itself is good too but I only had one frozen so I added some other fruit to it.

Are prickly pear cactus call cactus as well? I was in a Greek store in my town that had Cactus 2 for a $1 and green Cactus 3 for $1 but I didn't know that to do with them so I did not get them. they look like little fruit with sticky things on them

hmm, you don't have a photo by chance do you? I would say if you have green cacti it's probably not the same but I'm not sure. Whenever I've had the prickly pear ones from my cactus they start out green andthen get a reddish darker color when they are ready to eat. They have spikes over them so you have to be careful and clean them off with gloves but if you buy them from someone else that should have already been done.

okay that is most likely them then. do they look like they have little nubbins all around the outside where little spines could have been? if so that is them i'm pretty sure, you have to peel them first before you eat them. also the seeds are really hard so try not to eat those.
