    Default Exercise in General

As we age exercise habits may not be the same as when younger. What do you do for exercise, and why.

I really like walking. It is so humid and hot in Ky now that is a problem. In the winter, it is so cold, wet, etc., that is a problem. I hate the treadmill. I got too hot one day this week and am now scared off walking for a while. What does one do . . . and how much and how often.

I walk most days for half an hour or so. When to weather is too cold, hot, or wet outside I actually walk inside, from room to room, following a little route, and entertaining the cat. I also do yoga almost every day for awhile. It makes me feel really good when I stick to it. I'm 58.

Why is it a problem to walk when it's hot or cold or wet?

I love to walk and am about a15 minute walk from the beach here in N. Florida. I don't walk in the summer because the heat and humidity is brutal and I feel sick when out in it and excersizing. Even at 6a.m. or 8 pm. I personally can't take that kind of heat without wanting to throw up or pass out. I have a rebounder and a recumbent bike.also walking and yoga tapes for then.

I've just started a yoga class. Went through 3 teachers before finding one I like. Two others have been recommended as well but I've not found the time to try them out.

I also walk, a lot. Early a.m.'s and evenings when He's home and also to and from class.

I have a rebounder, hula hoop, Indian Clubs, medicine balls, kettlebell, sand bags, badminton set and various tapes I listen to at various times. Sometimes we'll walk to the park around and back. Other times we'll drive and bring all the equipment and play with some of that depending on how we're feeling.

I am almost 50, 48 to be exact. In the summer, I go to the gym twice a week to lift weights. First workout is squats, snatches and deadlifts. Second workout is all olympic style lifting. On the weekends, lots of yard work. During the winter, I do two days of stretching at home, plus a 3rd day at the gym, which includes more strong man type stuff, like farmers walks, sand bag work, kettle bells, tire flips, etc.
