Thread: Acid Reflux

  1. #1

    Default Acid Reflux

Eat close to 100% raw foods most of the time; however, eating raw or little vegan cooked, not noticing any changes to burning in chest area, sometimes a burping, sometimes a sensation that I have to heave and violently for a minute throw up. It can be as simple as a little watermelon too.

My chiro did an acid reflux adjustment and said it can take up to 2 visits to conquer. I have not gone back for 2nd one yet, but 1st treatment done about 1 month ago.

The feeling just comes on without even feeling like I hardly ate anything. Not any one thing brings it on.

Not taking any supplements at this point. Thinking of going back to a green powder as well as using a digestive enzyme.

    Any thoughts here?

Hardly any nuts or even dried fruits or even things like lemons, pineapples either. Really simple eating. I have not been doing the green smoothies regularly either so that is somethng that I do.

Thanks for any suggestions. It's a horrible feeling too and I know they say when you get older a digestive enzyme would be helpful especially if you do "any" cooked at all.

Have you gotten it checked out? I am asking because sometimes you can actually have a malfunctioning flap (don't know what the real name for it is. The flap that covers your esophogus, keeping the acid from coming into your throat, can actually not be doing it's job.
The other thing is, it could possibly be due to food sensativities. Do you have any, or have you been tested for these?
I have this, but do not suffer as greatly as you describe. They tried to put me on antacids, saying this is the only thing that helps. WRONG!
I stay away from the foods I am intolerant to, and keep a clean diet (whole foods, 75-100% raw) and all is fine. I don't even have trouble with acidic foods anymore.
That's the only thing I can think of, maybe others may have more suggestions. Blessings!

Thanks for reply. Doing close to 95% or more raw. Hardly cooked. Have not been checked out except via chiro. It could be the flap and maybe that is what the chiro adjusted in his treatment. Need to give him another try as he always has been great for all things in past.

I do eat clean diet too and mainly organic.

It could be a form of an allergy. It is very annoying when it comes on like a roaring lion and glad it's always at my house.

Thanks again. Right now, no food, just up, feeling great. I'm going to work with more green smoothies during the day.

I had success taking enzymes when my acid reflux was bad enough to send me to the doctor. The doc of course suggested nexium, which I refused to take. The enzymes really helped...and I wasn't raw at the time. Right now I still get some bad attacks from fruit...watermelon and virgin pina coladas while I was on vacation. I found some natural antacid tablets that I think are better than the sugar filled ones I used to take. Good luck!

    Cindy,
Thanks. Today first thing I had was two pluto (those plums, reddish in color) and had that same feeling coming on. I suppose they are history, I suppose watermelon that I heaved up other night could be a 'no" in eating. I need to get some digestive enzymes and thanks so much for your information. I can't believe eating this way, not blaming it on the raw diet, with no animal products is giving me this feeling sometimes. I know hacres.com recommends digestive enzymes and also Dr. Marshall on radio, can't remember his radio health show name, said anytime eating cooked foods, take digestive enzymes. Thanks again.
