Ibs
Everywhere I look for information about IBS, I see this:
Some common IBS trigger foods include:
Raw fruits
I have not been able to eat raw fruits lately and have been having other questionably-IBS-related issues.
Anyone else ever experience this problem and how do you treat it?

When I first came to raw I was totally not interested in fruits and so I did not eat any. I had IBS but hardly ever have any problem any more and I do now eat fruit if I feel like it.
Most people I have seen here over the course of a year have said that raw cured their IBS. Too bad most of the threads were deleted. Trust raw. The doctors are clueless. They want me to go to one doctor for the heartburn, another for the IBS and another for my colon. Duh! Its all one digestive tract fools!

Yep, raw fruits can be a problem. BUT, mainly because of what else one may be eating with them and with digestive issues it's a matter of knowing the fruits that work with the person. They say Veggies are bad raw also. Again, sticking all RAW tends to let people eat those veggies daily usually along with fruits. Lettuce usually is a tough one though but don't worry so much about that or just use green smoothies if you can take them. Go Raw and heal with tweaking things at first for yourself, there is no one size fits all, and things will get better.
Bottom line is RAW can work, but be RAW not back and forth or a little here and a little there. You need to be your own doctor also. Medical doctors are totally clueless I agree. Maybe find a naturalistic or whatever there called doctor perhaps. Even they can be a little programmed.

Ive suffered from IBS pretty much all my life. Yet since raw I have not had ANY IBS distress, its been amazing. However, I do not combine fruit with any other foods, just fruit by itself. How are you consuming it ?with other foods?

Well, lately I have been trying to eat fruits alone, so it's no more smoothies for me! Not worth the indigestion and nausea that follows. I mean, even a simple smoothie of banana, blueberry, and spirulina caused me major indigestion the other day. I have also cut out nuts from my diet, at least for now. I am waiting on results from an abdominal ultrasound and will be having an endoscopy next week. I was eating 95-100% raw until I got sick a few weeks ago, and now I am eating a part-raw, part-cooked (ovo vegetarian) diet. I don't really believe that one needs to be 100% raw to get the benefits. I am just trying to be as healthy as possible while maintaining my own sanity. It does not make sense that I should get as sick as I have been getting from eating part raw and part cooked. Most people eat a part-raw, part-cooked diet without realizing it.

I had to switch over to fresh fruit in the mornings instead of the green smoothies that I have drank for over 2 years. I had , well, let's just say an *event* that was cleansing but not fun..LOL & I was traveling at the time.
Also, I have learned to keep nuts & avos apart. This works for me.

With most people who truly have IBS, 100% is a MAJOR differrence to heal yourself. Also endoscopy, colonoscopy and such procedures are not needed when switching to 100%. They usually will show up nothing, unless it is a serious issue, and are subject to each Doctors own opinion anyhow. And as far as the smoothies giving you trouble - Stick to 1, 2 at most ingredients and get away from the spirulina. Nuts is an obvious No-No also
Also you don't sound like you have IBS. Highly doubtful switching to raw or 90-95% is the problem. I suspect the cooked food choices as well as other lifestyle factors or a lingering underlying cause that has been there along. And perhaps trying to be cooked and RAW is a tricky choice. Many say they do it but that's a pretty broad statement to what they truly do or how. Anotherwords, who knows

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth.
I was told for 8 yrs I had IBS, and to just live with it. Come to find out, I actually just have food sensativities. Once I stayed away from these foods, my "issues" were just about gone! But, I have developed something called "leaky gut", as a result from food sesnativities going un noticed for so long (anlong with some other factors as well).
Just something for you to look into. Hopefully you find some answers!
