    Default New fitness classes

We started new fitness classes this week and I had to try them all. I wanted to see which I felt would best supplement taekwondo and areas I need to improve. The 4 classes are and are listed in the order I felt would best benefit me are:
    1st - Cardio Kickboxing
    2nd - Pilates
    3rd - Stretch-n-flex
    4th - Yoga

Cardio is obvious, I thought the core strengthening in pilates would improve strength and balance, Streching would improve many aspects of taekwondo, and yoga would be relaxing, with some strength and stretching but mostly relaxing.

Well, was I ever surprised.......Stretch-n-flex moved to 4th. It was a nice workout but just not enough for me. 3rd was Pilates.....a good workout but again......not enough for me.......2nd became Cardio......I need the cardio and it was intense but.......drumroll please........Yoga, became 1st. I sweated more than the other 3 combined! I felt more of my body worked and more sweat than I ever felt possible. I've done yoga before but there was something about that workout. It made me feel so alive!!!!!! Missed Thursday's class due to a bad cold......my husband has had one for days and I finally got it. I have'nt had a cold or anything in a very, very long time! I shook it in less than 24 hours. He was upset by this because his keeps hanging on.......I said well, dearheart, I eat better & exercise where you eat a SAD diet, drink & smoke (both robbing your body of vitamin C and depressing your immune system) and you've stopped exercising. What did you expect?! He walked away without saying a word.........

    Default Fabulous, Kristi!!!

I'm not ready for yoga yet, but I have just signed up for an aquaobics class in a nearby middleschool twice a week. I think it's mostly seniors, but hey, if I actually get in the water and do it, it doesn't matter - there is no way I am going into a regular class at this weight. Plus I have horrible achilles tendon problems. So I think a work out in the pool will be perfect. I can't wait to get into better shape so I can take yoga as well - I think I did one class and it almost killed me!!!

    Good going Kristi!!!
    Love,
    Melissa

If you have the right teacher you can do the yoga to aid you through those trouble spots like the achilles tendon. Water workout is great! Do what you can, just do it! (oh, that's so Nike.) I started taekwondo heavy and my friend did, too.......she lost 110 lbs!!!!! You can stick with any activity you love!
