Chocolate
Do you guys eat chocolate? In the book I got, it says you are able to eat at least 70% cocoa...and in any amount. Is this possible?
-
I eat chocolate all of the time, it's so good for you! I had brownies for breakfast today. I usually have chocolate shakes too. Be sure to buy 100% raw cacao powder to get the best benefits from it. Chocolate in stores is processed and roasted, not ideal
I make my own chocolate with raw cacao powder, agave nectar, and coconut oil

I think you're talking about Natalia Rose, who promotes 70% cacao chocolate bars.
Do what you like, but I think you'd receive far more benefit from raw cacao powder. On Amazon.com you can buy 2 lbs. of raw Cacao Powder by Navitas Naturals for about 25 bucks.
If you'd eat 70% cacao chocolate bars, it would not be 100% raw, or vegan - which is what these forums are all about :)
It's up to you, but I'd try and do what it optimal :)

An alternative or natural doctor told my mom that chocolate is bad for you. She said that it poisons the blood and to stop giving it to kids. And someone who specializes in health food and works at a healthfood store told me to stop giving chocolate milk to my kids because it gives you parasites. This is the first time I've heard such scary and serious things regarding chocolate. Has anyone else heard anything like this?
Thanks!

I've heard both sides of it..there was that one raw guy who said it was the worst thing in the world (I don't think many people agreed with him though..) and then of course, people like David Wolfe who love it..I think it's amazing, gets me high and happy and makes my body feel wonderful. Maybe your doctor was talking about cooked chocolate. And the health food person, are you sure it was the chocolate and not the milk?

i love to add raw cacao nibs to my green smoothies, helps take away the harsh taste of harder to palate greens like kale. i notice that it gives me energy, but one day i had too much and it kept me up too long despite the fact that i am on a very sedating sleeping medication. i felt like i was on meth, talking fast and very anxious. i no longer plan on eating it past 2 or 3 pm.

Make your own!! its easy!
You need to eat Raw chocolate to get the full benefits, iv only been eating raw for nearly 9 days and on superfoods for 2 days, including raw cacao, it makes me feel AMAZING, slightly drunk if i dare say, maybe iv also eaten to much, iv bought the book 'naked chocolate' by Shazzie, its very very good!!! recipes for sweet and savory and all the facts and benefits of chocolate, its just very brilliant, it also goes into what happens to other normal cooked chocolate, u wont ever eat it again!

I do not believe that chocolate is good for but I still use it because I like it. I try to keep it to a as little as possible and will eventually grow out of it.
I agree that there are properties in chocolate that have beneficial qualities but it is not a whole food and so is not the best.
There is sufficient in the world for man's need, but not for his greed.

Yes ~ cooked chocolate is poison. The jury is still out on raw cacao. Depends on whose research makes more sense to you..... In my un-expert opinion it is just like any other supplement - maca, mesquite, agave, nama shoyu etc.... nothing wrong with it, just not a staple. Do what makes sense to you

it's the same thing as how some people say that too much fruit is no good, and others that too much fat is no good.
I personally enjoy using cacao very much. I find that when you use high quality nibs that the SUSTAINIBLE boost is undeniable.

Alissa's store has great cacao powder. I try to buy what I can from her in order to give back for this wonderful site. The jalapeno stuffed olives are wonderful tooo.
My kids and I eat a little cacao in some form or fashion 4-5 times a week.

RE:
I would decide yourself, read plenty of stuff on it, i bought a book, and i cannot see a reason not to eat it, but i would be sensible, just as i would not eat 7 avocados everyday!
Read arguments for and agaisnt, just as i did for the raw diet, arguments agaisnt seem to not have any basis to them what so ever, and the positives out weigh any negatives i can see. Same as raw cacao!

i eat.... quite a healthy amount of cacao ;)
and i feel GREAT.
but definitely, get the raw stuff.
dont worry that its more expensive.
its AMAZING.
