Bay Area Potluck Anyone??
Hello to my Bay Area friends,
Moncha, Lab Rat and I were tossing around the idea of a potluck get together on another thread. None of us really has thought through where or when to have it. I thought I'd go ahead and get this started to see who all is interested and where/when works best.
For me, the weekend of August 18th and 19th (I think that is saturday and sunday?) would work. Perhaps we can pick a nice park that has some picnic tables. Judging by the weather in SF lately, perhaps someplace outside the city would be best so we can actually be warm and enjoy some sunshine.
Feel free to chime in with ideas...

Hey Cindy, thanks for getting this started!
The weekend of the 18th-19th sounds great to me. That's probably the earliest I can do it too.
I live down near San Jose and the weather here is pretty awesome--nothing but sunny warm days this entire summer! There are a lot of county parks around here with picnic tables and hiking trails. But that might be a bit far for some people. I guess we'll just have to wait to see where everyone else lives! Oooh, I'm excited already...I hope we can really make this thing happen! *bounces*

A park sounds perfect. Great idea.
On the 18th I'm going to the Raw Passion fruit picnic in Sebastopol. On the 19th I have to be in Berkeley at 4pm. Would the following weekend work for either of you (25th or 26th)?

Hello All,
I also live in San Jose(West San Jose by Cupertino). Did you know there's already a regular potluck meeting in the South Bay?

I didn't know there was already a potluck around here. Linda, can you give us some more info about it? I still think it'd be cool to do our own with members of RFT tho :)

I know there are potlucks in the city too. I agree though...it would be nice to do a RFT one. :) I could probably do the 25th or 26th.

Yeah it will be fun to have our own. :)
How about you the_lab_rat, does the 25th or 26th work?
I wonder if we can post something in the main chat area to get more attention to this.

Yep, 25th/26th is fine with me too! Turns out I'll be gone on the 18th/19th anyway.
Yeah, I think these forums down toward the bottom of the page don't get nearly as much attention--I didn't even know there was that rawkin radio show until like 2 weeks ago Hmm... I'll ask rawkinlocs if it'd be okay to post about the potluck in the main forum.

Hello everyone. 25/26th works better for me too. I live in Berkeley (actually Kensington) so San Francisco is a good location....
-
Oooh, more people are starting to join, yay!
Rawkinlocs said she wouldn't have a problem with us posting it in the main discussion forum, but one of the other mods or Alissa might end up deleting/moving it. She said it'd probably be best to wait until closer to the date to post it there.
So, it's looking like the 25th/26th works for everyone so far... now we just need to decide which day, and of course pick a location! Any suggestions?

Well, turns out I can't make it on the 25th/26th after all. I'll be out of town. You guys go ahead anyway if you still want to...even though we haven't gotten much attention here yet Oh well, hopefully I'll see some of you in Berkeley on Wednesday for the Victoria Boutenko thing!

Hey lab rat. Too bad you can't make it. I will be in Berkeley for Victoria. I don't know what you look like so hopefully you'll recognize me from my pic and say hi. How are you getting there by the way? There's another thread about the event and some people want to car pool. I'm wanting to do that or we could all take bart together.
I would be down for going ahead with the potluck. Maybe we could make it a monthly thing. Maybe we'll only have a few people at the first one. That's fine with me.

I might take bart too, probably from SFO. I look like..uh..well, a kinda tall-ish funny looking girl with dreadlocks :) LOL
Hey, a monthly potluck thing would be cool! That's an awesome idea! Even if they're small, that's okay, it'd still be nice to meet some new raw friends. I totally wish I could make it to this one, but just planned a last-minute trip out of town before starting a new job in a few weeks.
