Worms! :(

OK, I've just discovered that both my kitties have WORMS! I am completely grossed out!

So I was wondering....does anyone know if I can give them garlic to kill the little parasites? I could always go to PetSmart and get them a prescription but I wanted to check first and see it there was a natural way to get them healthy again....

I'm waiting for the author/veternarian Pitcairn's book to arrive in the mail anyday. It's all on holistic vet care to do at home. If you haven't got any feedback by then, I'll check it up and let you know. I need to do my critters too.
Although I'm thinking the recipe my hippie friends have told me before is a pinch of tobacco, cayenne, and garlic together down the mouth after a day of fasting.

I don't think garlic will kill them. Also, it depends on what type of worms they are. If you notice something on the kitty's butt or falling off of the area that looks like grains of white rice, those worms come from fleas. If you don't kill the fleas, they will just keep getting them.

My cat had them when she was a kitten. I got some pills from the vet. But I have the most stubborn cat and I don't think there's a person on the face of the earth who can give her a pill and live to tell about it. The vet couldn't even do it. Finally in exasperation she said there was a shot that was approved for dogs but not cats. I said I'd try it anyway. That got rid of them. But I also had to flea bomb my house and I hated having to do that. And I used one of those one drop products on her neck for years.

Now she just doesn't go outside. No more fleas.

Hmmmm.....I haven't encountered fleas but it's always a possibility...the worms are exactly like you say...small white rice. I'll try anything at this point but would love to give them something natural that really works....I have an appt for them next week at Pet Smart...I'll keep watching this thread until then.

the little rice segments can be tapeworms.

also, i think raw ground pumpkin seeds or grated carrots can be used, not sure about garlic & cats. make their little bodies as strong as you can get them by feeding a good diet, keeping them free of chemicals, etc. etc. and that will help keep the parasites away.

Wow....ok, that last site has great info! I think DIATOMACEOUS EARTH is it!! It starts working after 7 days.

Here's another question.

Should I be taking this product too? Are humans able to get the little worms my cats have? Pardon my ignorance but ever since I found them on them I haven't let them on the bed...but of course they lay all over the couch so now I"m concerned that there are parasites all over my house!!! And possibly we have them now! So...I think we will start taking this stuff with them just to be sure....anybody know for sure??

you'd need to touch their stool and eat it i think to get the tapeworms.

i've wondered if i should try to use de in my smoothies too...i haven't tried it yet, but it can't hurt. i know alot of people take it, along w/ the author of that webpage.

i've ordered from that site (hopefully it was ok to post) & have been VERY pleased!

Many animals eat rough leaves to get rid of intestinal worms. There's the big decorative grass plant that has the fluffy feathery inflorescence - try picking a leaf and cutting it into 1 cm bits and see if they'll eat it. Or feed them wheatgrass.

Humans can get tapeworms but it's not likely you would unless you were kissing your kitties. That's how little kids get them. By kissing the pet and ingesting a flea.

Your home is probably teaming with fleas. To check the kitties for fleas, buy a flea comb and use it on them. You may not actually see a flea in the comb. What you are looking for is black/brown specks. If you see those in the comb, you'll know there are fleas. The specks are the flea feces.
