Links?
Could those of you who have raw dogs post links for where you get your raw food and/or recipes for raw dog food. I just got Ani Phyo's book and she has a couple in the back of the book that I'm going to start out with.
Could those of you who have raw cats please do the same for links for where you get your raw cat food and/or recipes to make raw cat food? I want to take all of our animals raw (we have one dog, two cats, and four gerbils). But I've been afraid of doing the cats because I know their nutritional needs are VERY specific and WAY different from dogs.
Thanks so much. Now that I have the human part of the family 100% raw, I'm hoping to be able to do the pets too. (I would've been pulling my hair out had I tried to do it all at once).
On the plus side, my dog HAS been having SOME raw. I give him the ends of carrots and cucumbers and tear up the outer leaves of lettuce for him when I'm making my salad and he had some sesame milk this morning that he really seemed to LOVE! His skin issues have cleared up since I started doing this, so I'm REALLY happy for that!
Thanks for all your help everyone! I'm so glad this part of the forum is here now, even if it did take me a little while to get over to it!;)

On an up note, I made Onyx (that's my dog) the raw dog food from Ani Phyo's book this morning and he absolutely LOVED it!

Here is a pictorial lesson (kind of gross but it helped me out): http://www.auntjeni.com/barf.htm

Here is what I have been doing for my guys and they are all so happy with it. They want more!
I made my "mush" first. This was the grossest part. I just took a few different veggies and fruits and some "variety meats": zucchini, yellow squash, sweet potato, cilantro, sesame seed, broccoli, kale, kelp, blueberries, apple, banana, chicken liver, chicken gizzard, beef liver, ground turkey, vitamins, garlic powder, honey, apple cider vinegar, butternut squash, carrots, sardines (bones and all).
So I give the guys about a cup of this or so (they are big collies) and a couple of meat pieces which could be chicken legs, turkey necks, etc.
Before this I was buying the Nature's Variety patties but the cost was starting to hurt a little. Since they have started raw, their coats are incredibly shiny and they feel great. We did have to deal with a few tummy issues and still do from time to time. They have sensitive systems.
Good luck! It's not as bad as I thought. Just take a few different things and grind them up in the FP. And then give that FP a GOOD scrubbing.
Anna (MaRaw) feeds her babies raw too and has reported great health.

Thank you so much Kelly! My boy is loving this! He has taken to begging for our food more now though. DH has a HUGE pet peeve (pun intended) about that. Makes that man crazy! LOL!

That's great. My guys really love it too. I did have a foster dog (we work with a local collie rescue group) and he turned his nose up at it at first. I guess it's like a kid who had potato chips all his life and then given an apple. Anyway, after seeing how the other dogs scarfed it down he decided he was missing out on something and tried it and LOVED it.
Anna mentioned that she also gives her dogs some Dinovite I haven't bought any yet but the ingredients look great so I will order some as soon as things stop breaking around here and I get caught up with $$$.

OH I forgot to mention another benefit of the raw food (with bones.....blech!): their teeth are a lot whiter. We adopted a collie who had obviously never had her teeth clean and they were terribly discolored and she had (well, she still has) awful breath. But they are slowly losing years of tartar buildup. One more benefit of raw!;)
