Default Traveling to Wash DC, where to eat ?

Hi. I'm traveling to Wash DC with my 12 year old son to be a tourist.

I was thinking that I'd stay someone outside of the city (cheaper?) near the metro and travel in each day to see the sights.

I'm raw 5 months now, though I will eat cooked vegan when that's the best option.

    So my questions are:

    1. Where should I stay? Is it near a Whole Foods or a great raw restaurant where I can eat?

    2. What restaurants should I try out? I can drive around for dinner. Even better if I can eat in the city, walking or metro from the tourist sites.

    Thanks!

Hope you have a Wonderful Trip......Do take Nuts, Trail Mix with you so if you do run into trouble you will have something to eat.

I am sure someone will give you the information you are looking for soon. In the meantime I would Dehydrate everything I could and take MY own Care Package...

    Hi Evegan,

I know there is a restaurant called Delights of the Garden in D.C. but I'm not sure if it's raw or just vegan. You could probably find lots of info if you did a google search.
As for hotels, my family and I traveled there last November and we used priceline. We got a three star hotel for $45.00 a night. We stayed in Virginia and it was approx. a ten minute drive into D.C. Parking was awful as was the traffic so if you could use public transportation I would.
Good luck to you and have a great trip! It's a really fun place!

Thanks, Bananafana for the info. I looked up Delights on the web and they are vegan with raw dishes. So that's a great start.

    On vrg.org I also found:

    - Everlasting Life
    - Snack A Shack

Plus some vegan places which aren't listed as having raw but you can always ask.

    Hi evegan!

I am almost 100% certain that delights of the garden has closed. As far as I know there are no restaurants in DC that serve raw food dishes. When I go out to eat I always get salad! I believe there are three whole foods stores inside DC, there is also a great local organic market with four locations within the district called "Yes! Organic Market".

I agree about parking being heinous, it is particularly horrible around the monuments and museums. Try to stay somewhere where you can easily access metro, DC's public transportation system will take you to most, if not all, of the great sights, and using it will cut down your stress level immeasurably!

    Enjoy your trip!
