Here's the deal. I have this HUGE cuke in my garden. I mean WAY LONG and SUPER FAT! But it's still not green?! It's like a white-green, but not a deep cuke green. Is it ready? Or am I still supposed to wait forever for it to turn green (it's been this big for a little over a week). This is my first time gardening and I kinda just put everything in the ground a let it rip. What do I do?TIA!

No, it didn't disappear! LOL!
My neighbor said that sometimes they don't turn green, but that with as big as mine is, it may not have very much flavor. But it does SMELL VERY cucumbery. (Like my new word?) So I'll see tomorrow! Thanks!

Usually when Vegetables become so Large they also become too Fiberous to eat and are ready to be Composted.
You can Learn a lot by experimenting, so I hope you continue to plant, water and weed. Working in one's Garden can bring such Peace and Fullfilment and also a Bounty of Harvest......Certified LIVING ON LIVE ,RAW FOOD Chef...........

Cukes I would say pick YOUNG, they are tastier. Old fat cukes are not that good.
It is likely the variety. My husband grows a cucumber that is entirely white on the outside.
You can experiment with different varieties in the years to come to see what you like. There are some really nice "bitterfree" varieties, and I also like to use "pickling" cukes just as "eatin' cukes".
It's also good to keep your plants well picked in general, as letting a fruit mature that long will bring you less future yield. Not only does it take the energy to grow something big, but there is a mechanism in the plant's regulation system that once it is producing seeds in a fruit that is very mature, it doesn't have to produce any more fruit because it's fulfilled its genetic desire to reproduce itself. So picking things young and keeping things picked helps the plant continue to put out more young and happy lil veggies and fruit.
