Question Does anyone use an AUTOMATIC SPROUTER???

This Freshlife sprouter is so much easier for me - I love it! But the downside is that I have to replace a gallon of water each day - and since I buy distilled water by the gallons - that gets kind of expensive for me on a 8-9 day run of sprouting wheat grass, etc. What to do???

Does tap water have a negative effect on sprouts??? - I've heard that a few drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract will clean any funky water.

    HEy Nogmo,

I don't know if you are buying already packaged water but if you are not, some grocery stores or health food stores offer refills at usually half the price.

Yesterday, I just discovered this at the health food store I have been shopping at for nearly a decade. I would be paying 44 cents vs 89 cents for half gallon. I typically drink a half gallon so I would be saving $3.15 /week.

I suppose another idea would be to put a water filter in.

    Good luck!

Yes, I have an automatic sprouter too. I agree, it makes life easier. A little. I still need to get the hang of some of these reciepes.
Anyway, my husband put a water filter in ours. It is hooked up to the sprouter, not under or above the sink. If there is anyway you can do that with your sprouter, it would be worth it. I have read that sprouts do need to be watered with good water, not tap.

I use tap water and my sprouts have been coming out fine (to me anyway). I grow alfalfa, clover, mung, lentils and various grains.

I definitely want to get a water filter in the future though. But since I just got a vitamix I need to wait until I make another big purchase.

Depends on how clean your tap water is. The powers-that-be who declare the max. for stuff in the water do not take into account the accumulative effects of the stuff. IF your water has been flouridated, I'd not use it.
