    Default Is this Detox???

Hi there, I am just about 3wks 100% raw. Today I had to stay home from work because I felt really run down, depressed and sluggish. I was really surprised since I have been so good with my eating. I also had a whole bunch of cravings for cooked food which luckily I didn't give in to BUT I did indulge in a lot of raw almond butter, bananas and dates which I'm sure I'll pay the price for later.

Am I detoxing? I just can't figure out why I feel so bad...has anyone else had an experience like this? Any advice on how to get thru it? Thanks :)

Eat more high water content foods and more greens if you are hungry. Try not to eat unless you feel you must because the less your body has to digest, the more energy it will be able to use for housecleaning. Green smoothies are ideal! Make sure you get enough fresh air & sunshine. Moderate excercise to help move out the toxins, yoga is good for wringing out the body as well as anything that gets your heart rate up a bit & makes you sweat. Rest if you feel you need to rest. Are you having good elimination? Sometimes a colonic or even an enema will take away all those detox feelings because in some cases it is re-tox from not eliminating the toxins that are getting stirred up now that your body is cleaning out from your new diet.

Most important thing is DO NOT TAKE ANY REMIDIES to deal with any unpleasent symptoms. Simply assist your body in cleaning out, work WITH it.

Yep, gotta admit a colonic snaps me out of unpleasant detoxing. It works.

Yep, I definitely agree that the way you're feeling is down to detox. I've been experiencing water retension, a feeling of 'heaviness' and feeling a bit low generally the last few weeks. I spoke to my homeopath about it, and she said those are classic detox symptoms, and show that the liver is under a bit of strain.

Maybe just try to eat a bit more simply for a few days - green smoothies are ideal as they are easy for the body to process. And I'm starting to take a liver-supporting supplement on the recommendation of my homeopath - the key things she recommended are Milk Thistle and Dandelion extract.

I understand some people saying don't take supplements, but I think it's ok to take something to support the detox process, especially if it's herbal. If you don't fancy taking supplements, you could always try a detox tea containing Milk Thistle and Dandelion.

Bampot, thank you for the advice. So funny you mention the "heaviness" and water retention. That is soooooooooo me right now. I made my first green smoothie this morning and will continue to do so. Forced myself to do some yoga this morning as well. Hope this doesn't last too long...such a downer but I guess it's just my body cleaning out and I will reap the rewards later on.

So funny how you not only go through a physical detox but a mental one as well! Who knew?!
