Quajo,
Don't know if oil pulling has got to do with it, but you can stop for a while to see what kind of effect that has.
Couldn't it be detox symptoms due to raw foods? You know, like kind of a healing crisis (like you stated, becoming worse before getting better)?
What do you eat? Do you eat a lot of fruit? In that case, maybe you should cut down on fruits and uptake your green intake for a while (leafy greens, spirulina, sea weeds, stinging nettle tea etc.) until it settles, it could indicate a ph imbalance (mouth too acidic) due to a lack of magnesium and calcium. You could use ph strips to check.
If it persists, you could consult a(n alternative) doctor.

Not a complaint (although...), just an observation: I've been oil pulling daily (and sometimes more) for about a month now, but haven't noticed any dramatic effects. My gums do seem to have grown back a little, where they were receding, but that seems to be it (this could also have to do with my upped intake of greens). No whiter teeth or nothing. I use organic, cold pressed sesame oil, maybe I should try sunflower the next time.
For the time being, I'll keep on oil pulling, perhaps it's just a 'patience' thing, but if it doesn't do anything for me in the long run...
Anyone experiencing the same or does have any tips?

I did it today for the first time!!! Not too bad!! I only did 10 min, but am gonna do it again tonight! I used coconut oil. If you read my blog, I've been under the weather. Not sure if the op'ing helped me today or not. We will see! I hope so!

This ,orning was my 1st time. I used coconut oil. it leaves a nice flavor behind. just wondering, should u avoid brushing afterwards. i brushed....did i ruin it?
 The person who says it cannot be done, shouldn't interrupt the person doing it!

Some say to brush after and some say to brush before. I brush before. I can understand the logic of both ways.

Thanks Judy! I think I will up my green intake and check my pH. I've added some oil of oregano to my sesame oil. I heard it helps with this problem. So far I think things are getting better. There's still bleeding, but much less. We'll see what happens.

I'm going to give my opinion on cutting down on fruit. I agree with adding more greens, as that is probably always a good thing. Just remember there are very little calories in greens. I don't agree with cutting down on fruit. Fruit is the only good source of calories on a raw diet. If you cut down on fruit you have to eat more fat to get enough calories. Eating too much fat will keep the sugar in the blood rather than let it get to the cells where it is needed. High blood sugar causes a lot of problems.

Hi judy, you may want to check in again about how long you are actually swishing....I noticed that if I don't watch the clock in the morning pull, I think I am pulling a long time but I am actually only going for about 10 min. If I go longer like when watching a movie or relaxing the results are way different. sometimes I even do to cycles up to thirty minutes and then I really notice better results.

Bumping this because it has lots of great information in it...
I have not been good about doing this regularly these days, but when I oil pull, I find that I get a lot of phlegm each time. It feels the same as going for a long run does in terms of what I'm getting rid of....
oilpulling.com has some info on how to it if anyone else is curious. :)

Did my first oil pulling today!! My teeth look so much whiter than they did yesterday..I am in shock. I started 100% raw yesterday, and this morning I woke up with a horrible horrible headache...while pulling the headache got even worse (so bad I thought I was gonna pass out ) After my time was up I spit and brushed, and I noticed that the horrid headache was GONE!!
I am used sesame seed oil...which is great cause I LOVE the taste of sesame seeds. Can't wait to see what else happens

I'm swishing for the first time RIGHT NOW! But to be honest, I was very hesitant to put that sesame oil in my mouth. I'm scared of what my side effects will be. Hopefully my teeth will go whiter along with the rest of the good stuff you guys have gotten out of it too!

oh i am so going to try this. going to get some coconut oil tomorrow!

I wanted to know if "oil pulling" was really making the changes i was seeing.
And the answer is "YES", after i stopped my gums started slowly getting puffy and sore and they were very sensitive and i had problems chewing my food.
This lasted for about a week until i went back to oil pulling and now the puffiness has gone away and i can chew without pain.
I know know that oil pulling does work and i will continue to do it
It also has helped with mouth odor in the morning i've noticed i love spicy foods.
