I just realized my coconut oil isn't raw. It's organic, made by Spectrum, but not raw. It actually says "refined" on the jar. Do you think it will still work?

Oooh im glad ive just found this thread, oil pulling is something i really want to try and stick to. Ill use Olive oil to start with because its what i have in the house atm. I must say ive put off starting a few day sin a row now because the sheer thought of having a mouthful of oil for 20mins makes me gag. But! Its clearly beneficial and ill get used to it so tomorrow, bring it ooooon!

Breathless!!
I came over here for the same reason!!! I realized my oil says refined!!! I am in a LIMBO...
It doesn't even say it is extra virgin or not...it only says organic coconut oil, expeller pressed and refined...
Someone help..I have been on this for about 4 or 5 days now.

How's everyone doing?
My teeth are getting WHITE WHITE WHITE and I'm loving this!!!!
Tooth pain continues to be drastically reduced. No improvement yet on my recessed gum.... but I've only just started. I might do this twice a day from now and see if that helps....

I'm not sure about whether or not refined coconut oil will work as well.... what I remember reading online when researching it was that the type of oil (sesame, coconut, olive) was more important than if it was cold-pressed or raw or not.... but that may or may not be true! If it was me, I'd go ahead and start with whatever oil I had and then buy a raw, cold-pressed oil when I could.
There are lots of sites online with more information, so I recommend doing more research!

I have kept doing it, I haven't noticed any changes in my teeth but will keep doing it...
I do like how my mouth feels when I finish.

Still oil-pulling and my teeth are now getting SCARY WHITE. Seriously whiter than they ever got years ago when I did those stupid bleaching trays from the dentist. They've just never been this white and now everyone is asking what I did.
It's also cured my chronically chapped lips!
I'm hoping all this swishing will have a positive effect on my neck by firming up the muscles.
I have no idea what other positive effects this is having on the inside, but am continuing for now to try and help my receded gums.

What is the original thread everyone kept referring to at the beginning of this one? I tried looking it up, but couldn't find it.
Most oil pulling threads that came up had just a few replies.
Thanks..

Okay, I posted this same exact message on another thread, but I think this thread is more appropriate because this is my first inspiration, especially even after it has been several years old!!!!! I have asked questions on this exact thread before, so you guys can look for it, it literally was one year ago!!! Here is my oil pulling experience:
Okay, first off, coconut oil has basically cured my sinus problems, but I have to follow these very precise procedures to make it work. Other people seem to have success with other oil pulling methods, I am just telling you how it cured me by following this strict procedure: The first thing is
that coconut oil has to be pulled in the morning in an empty stomach for 20 or more minutes. I used to have a sticky slimy mouth with blood oozing out in between my teeth when I wake up in the morning. This is also in addition to badly receded gums. I can tell that there is A LOT of germs in there because of the rate of hydrogen peroxide bubbling up in my mouth after I wake up is REALLY FAST. Now that I oil pull in the morning with coconut oil, the slimy, sticky and bloody mouth in the morning is 90% gone! I mean really. It is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have sinus problems throughout my life, and coconut oil is literally controlling my sinus problems! I suspect that the germs in my mouth whenever I wake up in the morning literally climbs up to my nasal passage and causes me to have uncontrollable sneezing through the day, and MAN I do mean unbearable, uncontrollable sneezing. I was literally miserable every 2 weeks. Imagine, appearing to have a cold every 2 weeks for many years. It was terrible!!!!!
Anyways, the reason why I can tell that it HAS to be coconut oil in the morning, on an empty stomach, even before I drink anything is because my dirty mouth and sinus problems came back if I did it any other way. Once, I oil pulled with coconut oil in the morning and sesame oil at night. When my mouth cleared, I gave credit to the sesame oil, so I pulled with sesame oil in the morning and at night, and the dirty mouth slowly came back, and 3 days later, I was sneezing uncontrollably again. It took me awhile to figure it was the coconut oil, but I'm glad I figured it out, otherwise I might be sneezing to this very day.
At one point, I even tried oil pulling with coconut oil at night, without the morning, and the mouth problems started to slowly come back. I had to figure out that to make oil pulling work, it HAD TO BE PULLED ON AN EMPTY STOMACH during the morning. Wow. So that is basically 2 hurdles that I had to overcome. The first was figuring out that it was the coconut oil and not the sesame oil that cured my mouth problems, and on top of that, I had to figure that oil pulling had to be done in the morning on an empty stomach! Whew!
Also, I'd like to point out that some people on curezone had mentioned thicker hair and hairs turning back from gray to dark again. I'm not sure if oil pulling did this for me, but I suspect it is. Some of my shed hairs literally have half black, half gray! With the root of the hair on the black side of course, so it is turning black. That is amazing! I do have pictures to verify of course. So, yea, I would never stop oil pulling. Oil pulling has cleansed my mouth, cured my sinus problems and it looks like it is making my hair darker again. Amazing. simply Amazing! Anyways, I hope my story helps you guys out. There are some details that other people might have forgotten to say, like how IMPORTANT it is to oil pull after you wake up.

Thank you. It is nice to hear a testimony like that. I had stopped oil pulling because I no longer have any problems but will start again.

Now I've discovered that I don't mind coconut oil in my mouth (thought it might make me gag) I have been thinking to oil pull. I discovered the other day that cherries dislodge tartar on teeth. I realised it was the cherries coz it happened before when I ate cherries.

That is the same kind I am using. When I went and looked up a site about oil pulling, it just said any kind of oil. I am sticking with the Coconut. My teeth are whiter already and I have only been doing it for 3 days now. Not as sensitive as they were to cold as before. Love it.

After reading this I will never stop doing this. Thank you so much for all your information.

Hey I have a quick question guys, when you spit out the oil, do you rinse your mouth with water as well, afterwords? sorry if this was already answered/covered.
-
I suck on the water for a little while (maybe 10 sucks) as well and then spit. I repeat this about 3 times.
