My breath/teeth/gums are perfect since starting oil pulling... I use expeller-pressed sesame oil. My MOM oil pulls too. She had many problems with her gums, and it was just a few days before she started coming to me very excited about how they were getting much better!

thanks for the reply but....
I think my gums got worse. It has been about 6 days since I oil pulled, and my front teeth is covered with dry blood when I wake up. I have been mega dosing on vitamin c for the last 8 months and it controlled it very well. noticed i said controlled, but not cured. I have been taking less vitamin for the last few days and that could have contributed to it. I don't know. I really want this to work. I love vitamin C because it effectively controlled a lot of the symptoms but did not completely cure them. It might cure in the long run.
Any thoughts or advice? i really want this to work!

think this will inspire me to start oil pulling agian. did it for 3 or 4 weeks. my gums were receding and causing me a lot of discomfort. as soon as it got better i just slacked off. i have a hard time going for longer than 15-20 mins since i feel like i am drowning in my own salivia. anyone have that problem?

julie-lmp, hope it works for you...
I think you might want to try megadosing with vitamin C. right now, since this morning, I am at 28 grams and it's 8:46 pm now. I think I see the splits on my gum closing up. I think it was the lack of vitamin C all along. I will wait a couple of days away from oil pulling, take vitamin c until bowel tolerance and then try oil pulling again. Hope it works for you and me.

I tried oil pulling for the first time today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I just have a question. I used the sesame oil that I have here which tastes like sesame so I'm pretty sure it's refined and it might have been toasted. The bottle just says 100% pure sesame. The oil also never turned white. Where can I find cold pressed oil at?

Practically every store will have some cold pressed oil and a health food store will have a greater choice.
You should not buy an oil in a clear bottle but in green or brown. Sunlight causes deterioration.

YIKES. I wonder what would cause that?!

Do you start with only a teaspoon of oil or a tablespoon? I do a teaspoon and really honestly don't know why so many sites suggest more than that!!

Is your sesame brown? Mine is a sort of olive oil looking sesame.

Okay I'll look at my grocery store. The one I'm using now is in a clear bottle and the oil is yellow. I can tell you this... My toothache has been gone for a full 24 hours since doing the oil pulling once. I'm also mixing in 4 drops of oil of oregano.

I remember hearing about oil pulling the last time I was a regular reader on this forum ... not tried it yet. Do you do oil pulling in conjunction with regular brushing or instead of or are there people in both camps?

It does not replace good dental hygiene practices and has more to do with pulling toxins from your gums and improving the health of your gums than your teeth.
Of course better gum health will mean better teeth.

I do not know that but my own experience with the habit has been more than positive regarding gum problems and loose teeth.
I give it full credit for saving some of my teeth from falling out.

I'm going to resume doing this with you guys. :)
I used to do it and researched it quite a bit, and there is a theory that it is not so much that you are pulling toxins from your blood, but rather absorbing some of the oil via sublingually (under your tongue), you probably know that many drugs are administered this way. And that in doing so, coconut oil for example, has anti-viral/anti-inflammatory properties, many people discuss how their feet and elbows soften, etc. ...the other effect it has is in cleaning stains from your teeth, oil is actually a good stain remover!

I presume that the process of absorption through your mouth is by osmosis and I would think that oil molecules may be too big to be absorbed this way.
I may be wrong.

osmosis works with water and concentration gradients. Not oil.
