    Default such a fan already

Day 2 and just about to do my 3rd OP before I head off to bed.
Both on my morning and afternoon OPs I nearly had to abort them before the 20 minutes were up because a TON of phlegm started to creep up my throat (like just before you're about to cough and hack something up). Fortunately I made it through both and did my best to get most of the mucous up.

    I don't smoke nor do I have a cold so SOMETHING's happening :)
    I love this!

Way to go, harbour! I don't smoke, either, and have experienced something similar with phlegm rising up in my throat during OP. Amazing how our bodies work so well when we encourage them to do so!!! :)

    Does that help?
Well sort of, I understand what you are saying yes. I'm just having a hard time understanding how the oil is actually pulling out the toxins. Does anyone have any articles that get really specific on HOW this happens, I can't seem to find anything yet..
I'm readings lots here where people are benefiting from OPing, my gums are always cut up and sensitive so I would definitely like to start OPing just for that reason. Also being a coffee consumer ANYTHING to whiten my teeth naturally I'm in!

    Thanks for replying Eva! :)

I seem to be getting good results pulling with salt water. Has anyone else tried the same process with salt water?

Hmpfh! I did swish the oil for 15 mins this morning, but when i spat it ot i thought of somehting. Of vinaigrette, to be exact.
I recalled how i once blended parsley and oil to make something pesto-ish, and added a little water to make it blend better. And what happened? The pesto turned all white-ish.

So i did a little test, and whisked a small amount of oil with a little water, and indeed, it whitened,

So the oil getting white has to be that it's mixed with saliva, and not toxins at all. What do you think?

that's generally what I guessed was happening. I don't see enough scientific backing for the idea to give it the suggested 2 month time investment that would be potentially required for results.

The oil usually does not turn white for me anymore. It only turns white when I have had a few days without oil pulling or have a non-raw meal. When I oil pull every day (often twice daily), and am sticking to 100%ish raw, it does NOT turn white. This is even with a range of times being from 20 minutes all the way up to oil pulling for a whole hour.

I can't explain the whole dynamic, but I can tell you for certain that something is happening that is good. After more than 2 years of regular green smoothies and oil pulling, I equate them both with my health. I do not feel as good without my greens or without oil pulling. I still feel good, but there is a feeling of lightness right after oil pulling.... and a feeling of lightness about hmmm an hour after a green smoothie. ;)

Sorry that none of that is scientific. Sometimes we humans have not conducted the experiments required to quantify these things. And frankly -- until oil pulling starts making a pharmaceutical company some money, it likely won't happen.

    Default My experience

To keep it short and sweet,
just letting everyone who is looking to get into oil pulling...

    IT WORKS.

Cold pressed sesame oil I use. And it prevented me from having to get my tooth pulled out ! (cavities, very painful toothache, worst pain of my life)

and also cured my eczema behind my knee I've had for most of my life.

Skin is SOOOO much softer, on the body, and on the face.

My sun tan's are more golden now. Dark circles gone. Kinda more energy. (my heart sometimes rushes with energy while I'm swishing the oil around.)
    Morning breath 90% gone (10% probably b.c I haven't been 100% raw)
I also think green juice/wheatgrass along with oil pulling will give dramatic health results and cure just about anything internally. I've been pulling for about 6 months now, and will never stop.

Start pulling today, thank the universe for this knowledge, and spread it to strangers and loved ones! Raw or not!

    PS.

Being %100 raw didn't even cure my eczema.

So that is saying something about this oil pulling

I just started oil pulling with coconut oil. I made it twenty minutes my first time! I was amazed at how white the oil was and how clean my mouth felt after doing it. I am going to commit to this for a few weeks to see if there are any positive changes. All the testimonials on this thread make me very eager to continue.

    Another testimonial....

Even though I had good results with oil pulling for my gums and complexion I wasn't convinced and and stopped doing it for several months. The next teeth cleaning my gums bleed again. The past couple weeks my skin started breaking out again, lots of pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads. I started oil pulling again using sesame oil. Within 5 days my complexion had cleared up.

I'm convinced. No amount of skeptism from my dentist or anyone else is going to make me doubt what I'm doing is beneficial. I'm an oil puller. :)

I would like to note that oil pulling did not make my teeth whiter. In fact that was another part of the reason I stopped doing it. My teeth have always had thin enamel, been dull yellow, and oil pulling made the yellow worse. It was like my teeth were absorbing the color of the oil. I have solved that issue my doing a 10 minute rinse with half water/half hydrogen peroxide after I oil pull and brush. I read that somewhere while doing google on oil pulling. The writer suggested doing it for removing any toxins that linger after brushing, but it also works to brighten teeth.

Update: I dropped the hydrogen peroxide from the program. I got sloppy and didn't add enough water to it and OUCH! My entire mouth erupted in sores that were extremely painful for a week. Not taking any more chances with it. If I want to use HP for brightening once in a while then I will carefully measure the water/hydrogen in equal amounts.

Third day of oil pulling and I feel sick to my stomach. I really hope this is working. I also switched to cold pressed sesame oil. I swished for twenty minutes and the oil wasn't quite white but more of an off white. Is this what I am looking for or should I go longer?

I told an herbalist/aromatherapist that is helping me with some other issues that I was doing oil pulling. She was intrigued and took some how to notes. She suggested adding some essential oils.

Specifially, one drop of tea tree oil and one drop of lavender oil to a Tablespoon of the oil I'm pulling with. I've tried it for the past two days. I LIKE IT! She also suggested adding a drop of myrrh if dealing with any tooth infections.

There is a great interview on you tube about Oil Pulling. Bruce Fife on the Power Hour Radio show.
