Houston RAW picnic at Miller Outdoor Theater, anyone?
Miller Outdoor Theater in Hermann Park (www.milleroutdoortheatre.com)
Admission: FREE!!!
If our Houston weather permits, is anyone interested in getting together for a RAW potluck picnic at the Miller Outdoor Theater?
There are a couple plays produced by the Houston Shakespeare Festival coming up on Saturdays:
Romeo & Juliet - July 28th, at 8:30pm
Love's Labor's Lost - August 4, at 8:30pm
Click on the 'Plan Your Visit' link on the left hand side and it gives you details about seating, where to park, etc. Being that it starts at 8:30 it will still be daylight, but otherwise I have flashlights, etc.
Here is info on parking...http://www.houstonsheart.org/html/pa...formation.html
So anyone interested in going on either of those two occassions, please email me so that we can settle on how to get there, what to take, etc etc...

Oooh, but I'm a newb. All I would bring is mono stuff. And I've been feeling fugly, that's why I've gone raw for the past four weeks. Has it been that long? Wow. Do you go to any of the Houston co-ops/farmers markets?
I adore Nancy's dressing. I used to work at the kitchen that she made it.

Since I live near a whole foods market, I've been hitting that. I have yet to have time to find a farmer's market in the city.
Do you know of any?
I figured if anything, we could just take fresh fruits and veggies?

Dude, Patti. There are like half a dozen inside and outside the loop. I'll try to compile a list for you in the next few days when I can. Fresh, local stuff that're organic and cheaper than WF.
You can order shares that are boxes of veggies pre-paid and pick them up weekly or whatever.
I'd like to meet up and bring something. It'll give me an incentive to make something raw. Hopefully by then I won't feel as fugly.

OMG!!! That would be so great of you! Thanx!! I've been lazy myself and just stick to eating salads or whole fruits and veggies. i've been drinking a green smoothie here and there a couple times, but haven't really made a RAW dish since i moved into my apt.

I just sent you an e-mail. Although it doesn't come with links, you could just Google the name with Houston, Texas. There are lots of people to meet and talk to at these places.

Portiz - What a great idea! My husband and I were considering going to the show on July 28th, like you mentioned, depending on the weather! If it's still on, I would like to bring a dish to pass. I'm very new to raw foods, but have made a few yummy dishes that would work for a picnic.
RawPaw - Thanks in advance for the list. I just moved to Houston and would enjoy checking out the local farmer's markets.
-
I might as well paste it here in case anyone else lives in Houston.
Central City Co-op
Bayou City Farmers Market
Midtown Farmers Market
Houston Farmers Market
Katy Farmers Market
The Woodlands Farmers Market
Fresh Food Market at Armand Bayou Nature Center

Thanks so much RawPaw. I really appreciate it and can't wait to check them out. Would you happen to know of any raw resturants in the area too?
-
There are a few raw potlucks that meet up every week, but you'll have to call the markets about them. Ask Pat or Nancy from Central City Co-op. They should know. Tell them Duc told you, but I doubt they remember me.

Yeah, call Central City Co-op. I don't think there are any, but I'm not entirely in the know.
