    Default I'm new & lost

I'm a mom of 3 and I'm weighing about 195lb now. i would like to go on the raw food diet but I'm kind of discouraged by Alyssa advising that one starts by emptying one's house of all other foods. How am I going to feed my family?

ozzy... Aloha and Welcome to RFT....

Alissa of course does not expect you to starve your family!! ;) Many people that have difficulty - may want to empty their kitchens, it might help those people from being tempted. MANY OF US DO NOT EMPTY OUR KITCHENS... you must use wisdom. The raw foods lifestyle is one of freedom and customizing the lifestyle to fit with your needs and the needs of your family.

I for one did not empty my kitchen. My husband is high raw and he would have been very upset if I did that! So - I adjust - I just know what I want to eat - and what is not healthy for me!

There are many articles written by Alissa that were 're-posted' for us to read and learn from. They can be found under the General discussion area.

I look forward to reading more about your journey. If you want ozzy -- you can also head on over to the journaling section and start your own blog there. In that section you can record your food intake, different things you are experiencing, ask questions, get lots of support and just keep a record of your journey. You can also read other peoples blogs and see what they are experiencing... and how they are feeling! It's a great support system!

    Blessings on your journey !!

    Default Welcome Ozzy!

When I first started back in December, I did not empty our kitchen! I still had to feed my dh and three growing children! But I also knew that this was my commitment to me and no one else. So if I didn't do what I knew to be right for my body, I was only failing myself. I employed my oldest ds (11) to be the taste tester for all things cooked from that point forward and that worked out well.

Fast forward a few months later, and now the kids and I are all 100% raw, dh is high raw (he's military and goes TDY/deploys a lot, so 100% is not realistic for him right now). I started out at 238 on Dec. 27th, and am now 185.6. So make the committment to yourself, and go from there!

Again, welcome. This board is a wealth of information!

ETA: I'll be up your way next month! If you need help still at that point, let me know!

Welcome .........I have been raw for over 6 months, I have a hubby and 2 growing boys and I cook for the almost everyday. Idealy you would clean out your kitchen if you were alone but you are not,,,, baby steps for your family is the best way to go for most people, don't worry you are NOT alone !;)

I'm single and I didn't empty my kitchen! I still have some rice in the fridge, which I haven't eaten any of in many months. I also didn't go raw suddenly; I still put tofu in my salad for a few weeks afterward.

I live with a 6'8 280 lb carnivore - don't sweat it! You can do this without emptying the shelves. The main thing is to be firm in your decision and avoid cooked temptations yourself.

WELCOME!!! So glad to have you with us!!!!!!!
    live out loud.

    Raw since 1/5/07.
Many unwanted lbs. gone - guesstimating 45-50.

It's not my diet. It's my lifestyle.

Set aside a shelf in the fridge and maybe one in the pantry that is strictly for YOUR food. Then, you have cleared YOUR space! The rest of it is for your family, not you! :)

Hey Ozzy ~ good morning!! Just checking up on you! I love what mathteacher wrote. IN fact... I think I'M GOING TO DO THIS!! Rather than having my stuff scattered here and there... I want my own shelf !! Great Idea mathteacher - thanks!!

    Welcome Ozzy!!!

I attacked the kitchen like a mad woman!!! But that was just me. My poor DH had no choice but to go raw along with me. I could control his eating habits for breakfast and dinner. I pack him a lunch everyday but if he choses to eat out because of a business meeting, then I have to leave that up to him. Eventually he will come around.

You will find what I right for you and your family. Welcome to Raw!!!! Enjoy the ride!
