Favorite raw restaurants in SoCal?
Good morning everyone!
I'm down in Southern California for a few days and, well, there's no shortage of raw food restaurants here! Even most of the health food stores seem to have a prepared raw food section! I won't have time to visit all the places I'd like to try, so I was wondering, what are your favorite raw restaurants down here?
Right now I'm in Orange County, but will be in Santa Monica and LA too, so I'd try anywhere in the general LA-area. So far I've been to Juliano's Raw, Rawvolution, Cilantro, Leaf, AuLac, and Good Mood Food, and also bought some to-go stuff at Erewhon market, Mother's market, and the Co-op in Santa Monica I can't remember the name of (not all in this trip... I don't eat that much! ) Anywhere special I should try? Or does anyone have any favorite items they'd recommend at any of these places?
Thank you and have a lovely raw day!

I saw that place online but got the impression it was out of my price range... looks like it's pretty reasonable though, thanks for the info! Looks yummy too--I hope I have time to visit!

Jade Cafe Loz Feliz
HI there,
Well, you've certainly touched on all the ones I'm frequenting mostly.
If you make it over to Loz Feliz area I highly recommend Jade Cafe. It's delicious and definitely has it's own style apart from all the others.
Its more asian and/or Thai. I had great salads, Thai curry coconut pastas, eggrolls, great desserts..all raw of course.
Enjoy!

It's Cru now
Jade Cafe ceased to exist almost a year ago. It's now Cru (means raw in French) and uses the same location but has a different executive chef, Rachel, and a totally different menu and different decor.
I highly recommend it and suggest the ravioli (both the shitaki mushroom and the pesto) and the ice cream and/or the key lime pie and/or any dessert. Some entrees are bland, some are really good. You can't go wrong with the ravioli, though. I was there about 5 days ago and, along with my companion, tasted at least 7 items. I hadn't been there in several months and they've refined the menu even more.
Gotta try it.
Here's the website: http://www.crusilverlake.com/
If you go, tell Rachel that Diana referred you.

My favorite restaurant of all time is "Inn of the Seventh Ray" in Topanga Canyon. They have a raw foods menu. It is not cheap, but is amazing for special occasions. Most of the seating is outside by the creek under the trees. It's a wonderful place IMO.

Thank you again, RawTruth! I'd wanted to try Cru but for some reason couldn't find a website w/ a menu, so I didn't want to go and be disappointed since I'm usually only in town for a couple days. Totally trying that one out too this time!

Is this some of the better ones around Los Angeles? What else is there? I will be moving there in June.
