Default nut butter from my Omega 8005....????

My nut butter always comes out SUPER dry and hard. Seems like it would take a TON of almonds to get a cup of butter. Any suggestions? I thought about taking the HARD butter and putting in my FP with some water, alittle evoo...maybe even some agave....and cream it up. Would this work? I want spreadable butter...not the hard stuff that comes out of my juicer. By the way, I always use soaked, dehydrated almonds...should I NOT dehydrated them....and put them through the juicer full of water...seems like I did that one time and the juicer "spit" out water...and hard butter together. ???? Thanks. I know someone knows how to help me. I want to be able to take a jar of almond butter camping this weekend.

I also have a omega juicer. I think it is the champion juicer that makes the nut butter cause it is warmer.
I use the food processor to make nut butters.

My FP is so big that I would have to use a TON of almonds to get it to "turn" right. My Omega says you can make nut butter with it....just wondering who else has been successful??

Post Maybe this requires an email to Omega

You should email the folks at Omega and pick their brain. I don't have a juicer that will make nut butter, and just like you, my fp is 11cups...too large unless I want to make a batch for the city of Bellevue, Wa!!! No thanks!

sorry I can't be more helpful for you

HI. i would love to know how to make the nut butters, esp almond (!!) in my FP. I hear a lot about doing it with certain kind of juicers, but not the FP.
    thanks!

I've tried to make nut butter in my FP and haven't had luck. I even add flax oil and honey to make it smoother and it still is crumbly.

Don't get me wrong. It is still good.... but crumbly.

I'm still waiting for the SECRET as well.

This is what I'm going to try.
Soaked/dehydrated almonds. Run them through my coffee grinder, grind until fine, powder. Then put THAT into the FP and add some evoo (or other oil, even coconut oil!)...and alittle sea salt...hopefully it will "cream" in the FP this time....we'll see.

    Hi everyone-

I have an Omega 8003- very similar to the 8005, just a different color. I make nut butters with it often. I've found a few things to be true-

-cashews seem to come out dry and powdery if you put them through without any water, but I don't soak them. I just put the amount I'm going to juice into a cup and put enough water in the cup to wet the cashews, swirl or shake them around in the water a little, then dump the water out. Then I stick them in the juicer, this seems to provide enough moisture.

-You have to go slowly. When I put in too many nuts at a time that's when the clogs start to happen, the juicer gets too hot, and the nut butter starts to get really hard. Just go nice and slow and it should be creamy like buttah.

-I've done almonds as well, they don't seem to need much water at all, I just sort of splash them with a little water.

-Again, small amounts at a time so all the nuts can clear the auger and not get too hot.

I hope some of that helped!

    Good nuts!

Also, sometimes you need to send almonds through twice- this is no problem, just make sure to go slowly the second time as well, maybe even stopping between the two rounds of "nut buttering" to clean out the auger and the cone, then begin again.
