aspiring 100%raw vegan from Detroit, MI
Hi all,
It's interesting to see some familiar cyberfolks w/in the raw community that I recognize from other forums and blogs. Val, a shout out to you and congrats on your amazing green smoothie experiment and continual weight loss. suzi, we've chatted from another forum (paul's) and hopefully one day we'll meet, perhaps this summer when schedules may be slower. and Morn, I finally read in someone's post that you're from chesterfield. you're not too far from me. I'm actually in Troy.
I've been to someone's house for a raw potluck who was certified with alissa cohen so i know there are some other raw aspiring eaters in southeastern michigan.
i'm married to a carnivore-loving eater and have 4 kids who love fruit but wouldn't care to be w/o any kind of meat too long. at least my 3 girls like to eat green smoothies and nori wraps. yum.
i educate my 3 girls at home and my son just finished his first year as a fifth grader at a christian school. would love to pull him back home but husband wants to give school another year. in the meanwhile, at least i have the girls at home and still can have a powerful influence on what they eat, even if it's not vegan.
my favorite green smoothie combo: bananas, mangoes, baby spinach. yum.

hola
thanks spicyfull and lavendarJ. was hoping to be all raw today but already tripped. oh well. i have been inspired by matt to drink more green smoothies. it's just so much easier to get down raw goodness that way and not worry about making a decent dressing, at least one without oil. i am actually trying to gain weight, but i also want to gain my calories from fruits rather than oils and overt fats.

hi starfire,
i'll be visiting kauai after christmas. i hope to eat loads of fresh fruit while visiting the beautiful island. if you have any recommendations on where to go for fresh fruits, let me know. it would be so fantastic to be able to pluck off a coconut and fruits straight from the source. i'll be staying at waipouli beach.

Hey I can't believe there is another person in the southeast Michigan area. Yeah for us Michiganders! Not everyone has desserted the state yet.
Good luck on your journey. Sounds like you are a busy mom. What school does your son go to? I have my daughter in a private christian school too in Clinton Twp.
You will love it here on this site. It is filled with a ton of helpful information and really friendly and encouraging people. Hope to see you around more and get to know you!
