they say they want to eat more like me, and then order pizza or chinese food the next day or the same day.
Just have to be patient, and love them anyway.

My mother knows and is very supportive. My dad doesn't know (they're divorced)

When I was 12 I went vegetarian and my parents thought it was just a phase, haha! Since then (I'm now 16) I've cooked (or uncooked) all my own meals so its not really much to do with them. They just notice that I eat a lot of fruit and veg. I have to buy a lot of my own food but I don't mind. They haven't said anything about me going vegan or raw, and I don't talk to them about it... In fact I don't know if they've even noticed really. Basically, they just leave me to it!

My family doesn't know im going raw. I've been a SAD eater all my life. They knew about me going veg then vegan and thought it was a phase or something (did that a couple of months). After going back to SAD, i did not feel as good as i did when i was vegan. I am just now getting back in the swing of things and really don't care what anyone thinks about it. I asked God to help me and obviously this is what i am supposed to be doing for me and my health. I feel you cant worry about what people say, even your family. You gotta do what you know is right and what is right for your body.

That's wonderful! I haven't lived at home for years and my dad still tries to tell me what nutrients he thinks I'm missing from time to time.

I have the situation in reverse: I'm a mum with three grown up kids who I brought up vegetarian/vegan (which they still are), and now I'm raw they think I'm going through a crazy phase!!!
I'm just quietly persisting and hope the results are speaking/will speak for themselves.

My Mum (vegetarian) allows me to eat as I wish but she doesn't agree with eating only raw. My Dad (sad) pulls faces when people ask about my food and why I eat it raw so he definitely doesn't agree but he does allow me to bring my food and has said it's fine to bring it to christmas so it's not bad at all! I don't live at home though I left home when I was 17, I remember saying I wanted to be a vegetarian when I was younger and I got told that while I was under their roof I would eat as they wanted. Sorry incase that makes no sense my parents are divorced and I spent most of my time at my Dad's hence the last comment. But I totally get how hard it can be for people who live in a house with unsupportive family or unsupportive people in general. But just remember why you're doing it and it doesn't matter what other people think because really why should they care what you eat!

Isn't it bizarre that people are so concerned about your wellbeing if you eat lots of fruits and vegetables, but don't question you at all if you eat lots of pizza, burgers, and candy? What kind of brainwashing is going on? Seriously... one of you up there said that your mom was concerned that you had an apple and orange for breakfast. Shouldn't they be thrilled? I mean... I understand where some of their fears are coming from, but to treat it like it's worse on the body than SAD to eat fruits and veg and nuts? Where does that come from??

i've been raw off and on for about 2 years now.. when i frist took the 30 day raw food callenge.. they where ok with it for the first week then they thought i was kinda nuts, the third week they where kinda getting annoyed. they are all SAD exept my DH who is vegan. i'll never forget what my brother said to me.. after the month was up i slipped a little. i was making somethin non raw.. he looked at me and said " I thought You don't eat cooked food anymore" that was a wake up call. right now i am getting back into raw and i live 1,000 miles away from them. and i whant to suprise them when i got back to visit in May!!!

I know what you mean. Everyone is so programmed to believe that the only way to be healthy is to fill your body with tons of sugar, bad fat and cholesterol! But some of the healthiest people I know are vegan or raw vegan!

This terrifies me. As a mother, I can have my children taken from me for feeding them raw foods but if they were "normal" kids who lived on french fries and chicken nuggets it wouldn't be an issue. Seriously, WTF is going on here?!?!?

Isn't that horrible. Like sticking a chicken "nugget" in your kids mouth is healthier than giving them a banana! puhlease. You can bet that if I ever do decide to have kids, they are NOT eating even one thing from the SAD!

There was a case not too long ago where a couple's foster kids were taken away because they were being fed vegetarian foods.
-
Oh that is so sad. People have just got to far to go to realize how unhealthy eating SAD is.
