Where is everybody? A bit quiet today. What "treats" do you allow yourself while RAW. At least once a week I enjoy this Fudge Recipe which I have modified from other recipes. Maybe some of you can share your favorite treat? THANKS!
My own Fudge Recipe
2 c coconut
½ c cocoa
Stir well in large bowl
3 c walnuts, process until creamy
½ c honey
½ c water
¼ c coconut oil
Process well. Then stir into to coconut and cocoa mixture.
Press into flat, covered glass dish. Place in refrigerator 1 hour. Cut into squares.
When firm remove from dish and freeze individual squares.
(For one person it is too much to store in refrigerator only.)

Just checking in. I think I'm going to try some "weeds" in my smoothie. After meeting and reading Victorias book the other day, I'm real excited about having more greens in my diet. So...today I will try dandelion greens. She served us a smoothie with pears, dandelions and mangoes. Not bad but I'll add more sweet fruits till I get use to it....maybe banana or dates.

I seem to be stuck on spinach and tomato with a bit of onion for green smoothie. Know I need more variety. Tried Kale a few times but probably put too much Kale and it is always thick. And I like to drink the smoothie, not eat it. Don't know that I could buy dandelion at the market, but I need some motivation to try something new!

Thanks, Styersky! I've been 'getting there' for I'd say about 2 1/2 years now. Keep restarting, but recently I'm really getting it, about how much better I feel on raw. and that the excess weight WILL come off if I stick to raw.

SparklePlenty . . . good to see you back. Hope you can follow your dreams this time and stay RAW if that is what you want.
I am coming up on a month of RAW. I have a history of getting really excited about it and then going on to something else. I surely hope I don't do that with RAW. I truly am excited!

Haven't had the time to spend on the site lately, but seems like so many good things are happening when I stop in. I am also in the 50+ arena at 51. Was ecstatic to discover raw and begin experiencing the fantastic benefits. Will need to go back and read several "missed" pages in this thread. Great thread--thank you for starting it.

And thank you for helping us keep this thread alive. It is my hope that we can encourage many if we can keep it going. I know there are many in our age bracket that are dealing with or fearing osteporosis. And I hope they can find our thread on "Osteoporosis" and be encouraged. It seems that as we get older it is sometimes difficult to make changes, or change doctors, or treatments. That is my reason for being persistent in trying to keep this thread going.
Thanks, everyone, for helping to keep the thread alive!

Hi, I'm new here but not new to raw. I'm 52 so I love this thread. I had somehow gotten the idea that most on these boards were younger, so this is nice.

whew .. had a bit of reading to do to catch up on this thread..from when i was last here. i took a bit of a break from the group..feeling rather 'out of place'.. This thread makes me feel a bit better.
Styerski, i was thinking about your tendonitis..
My friend with whom i began raw, some four(?) or five months ago ( Easter time) had painful arthritis in her back and hips , and wrist problems and some tendonitis.. and RAW has just cleared up all her aches and pains and a few skin problems and headache problems she was having also.
I think we can all be really encouraged by going raw at any age..!!
( especially now) ( and especially with some of the cool compliments people at this thread have been receiving)
I think the avocado and oils WILL help tendonitis and joints and things.
They helped my friend.. she pinpointed some of the food sources which really seemed to help her . ( She has always been quite sensitive to the reaction that different foods gave to her body) ( she just now decided to quit all the bad ones, and go LIVE ) ( this is not an easy choice for her to make as she has opposition on the home front..) (but she is a brave lady, and gutsy as are many people here at this thread )
ok.. what i was wondering is if "oil Pulling" as written about in different threads at this forum..would help lubricate the joints and tendons and things
in regard to the question you may have as to 'what is oil pulling???
perhaps you had better do a 'google' of it to get a better idea of exactly what it is, how to do it , and what one can expect from doing it)
google : "oil pulling", "health" or something similar..
**( i would describe it here ,but would not do it justice.).** and would make the post too long..
some sources say that oil pulling helps lubricate the joints.
do you think that may be worth a try?

Hi there,
I'm sorry I have'nt posted for a few days. Just been a little depressed. So, when I'm in this mode I don't talk much to anyone. I did go for a nice walk yesterday and noticed the simple beauty around me, which made me feel better. Sometimes I feel I'll never live my dreams.Tomorrow I will be better.

Can't tell you exactly what changed my emotional problems, but I think it is green smoothie (spinach) for breakfast and usually two avocados each day. Can't tell you for sure, but since starting RAW 4 weeks ago the depression I had dealt with for at least 20 years is just gone and I hope it stays gone.
If I were one to give advice . . . on days like what you described, I would have some extra green smoothie with a big handful of spinach and at least one avocado and see what happens.
Hope today is a very good day for you!
