Hey, Alice . . . I don't see your response to me on best foods for alkalinity ? ? ? Anxious to see what you know about it. I do appreciate what you say in the response here on some foods, lemon juice and vinegar. THANKS!

Alice, when I go to this thread, and look at the upper right corner, I see "Page of 5 pages". I am confused as to where you are seeing 11 pages. Maybe you could contact the Moderator, since I am not computer literate enough to see or understand the 11 pages.
Thanks.

Hi Styer..
nope.. i am gonna let you do it.. it will build your computer muscles..he he.
actually , i am really stretched for time at the mo....
yes, i did send you a thread about alkalinity, and i do believe it was posted..
but i also sent you an e mail ..explaining all of this stuff in more detail.
i sent a little pic of the page numbers in the upper right hand corner.for you to check out..
you will NOT automatically go to the last page, i am finding, when you go to any particular thread.. especially if you have bookmarked a previous page.). You need to go to the upper right hand corner and look at the little numbers and click on the last one ..to get to the last page of the thread..
i think my PAST POST ( which you mentioned )was on the third from the last but you DO NOT NEED TO SEARCH FOR THIS PAST POST, BECAUSE I TOOK OUT THE MOST RELEVANT PARTS OF IT AND POSTED IT ..TO WHICH YOU RESPONDED JUST BEFORE I AM SENDING YOU THIS..IN RESPONSE TO YOU.
Don't worry.. you will get it..
sorry for the rushed response..
i am outa here

Where is everybody . . .
There are many things about RAW which pleases me, but I have struggled with losing weight all of my adult life. Have been on every diet that exists. Nothing worked. I might lose 3 or 4 pounds, but always gained back double what I lost. This has been going on since I was 18.
I make no attempt at losing now. And do not understand why I am losing. But as you can see in my signature, I have done pretty well. Do not understand. When I am hungry I eat. Eat when I am not hungry. But it is all RAW, and that is all I can say.
It's okay if I never understand, but surely am happy with RAW if for no other reason. But there are many other reasons . . . depression gone for one!
Share with us the positive results you have seen, and encourage us with your success.

This is a chart showing acid and alkaline foods. It seems the balance between acid and alkaline is very important to our health and is fairly easy to do with RAW.
Hope you find the chart helpful.

Over 50 and loving it The Raw Way
Well I am 56 now and will be 57 on Oct 2nd and that is just around the corner too. I maybe getting older but inside I am getting Younger. I just got out of the 300's this morning. SO now I am 299 lbs and Dropping By this time next year I should be down to 200 lbs or less. It will be here in no time. Time if flying for sure. looks like a good part of this board is over 50. I guess it took me that long to get to a Raw eating program. So my old age with be a nice happy healthy life. With no meds or all that going to the doctor all the time. Doug in Calif 100% Raw and loving it.

Thank you styersky for the acid alkaline chart.

i hope you finally found the stuff i sent you or posted about the BEST of the
alkaline foods, including alfalfa powder , which is not mentioned often.
It can be found in a post at this thread..a couple pages ago.
(we are up to 12 pages and counting, it seems.)

Boomies!
There are a lot of us! Weeks ago I counted the different posters on this thread and there were 31. No telling how many now.
Douglas, you made me think of this...
I remember seeing an interview once with Cheryl Tiegs and Christie Brinkley. (Dubbed the poster girls for baby boomers.) They said on there that the attitude of baby boomers is totally different than generations before. They refuse to accept that you have to get old and decrepit and will fight like the dickens to prove we don't have to age that way.
That's the way I have always thought but didn't realize it was the trend of the boomers. Well, actually I never thought I was aging. Still don't.
.............
If you're still thinking 50 years of age is "old," think again. ... "Boomers want to prove that growing old doesn't mean growing feeble."
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...19321107/print
............
Puts a little more fight in you to know that!!

Question for us...
Since age is a state of mind, How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
(Or how old do you feel inside?)
...................
I would say 32 for me. Old enough to be a little mature but young enough to be just starting out.
-
That's an interesting question. You can see my real age if you look in my signature . . .
I really can't say I feel any different than I ever did. Maybe dementia has set in and I just don't know how I felt at the age of 16 . . .
I walk about 2.5 to 3 miles 5 or 6 days a week and love it. Sometimes I walk with a neighbor friend about 15 years younger than me, and sometimes I walk with a group of 30-35 year olds. My favorite place to walk is our county park because it is a good work out with lots of hills and slopes. One hill is a great challenge. Every time I take a new walking buddy, my husband lectures me when I get back because I took them on "that hill".
I had 3 siblings and I was 10 years younger than the youngest. They, like my mother, thought life was over at the age of 50. That example set for me by them challenged me to never assume I was old just because of a number. I hope I never will.
I love your post . . . thanks for the encouragement!

styersky,
You sound like a very busy and active lady. This is a wonderful thread. So glad to see so many other over 50's on the board. Great place to be.

Keeping busy is a good thing. I worked until November 1 of last year. The last 2 1/2 years were at our local bank and I loved it. Would still be there except that I needed to be at home with my husband. He is 84 and was experiencing some depression, etc., being alone so much. We are thankful that I could stop working and be with him.
And I, too, love this thread. There are many our age interested in RAW that need encouragement, so let's try to provide it! THANKS!

Belledonna, have not seen you here recently . . . hope things are going well with you. I have sinus problems now also. Just wondering if it might be further cleansing. Has been a vey long time since I have had sinus problems. Did not need to be reminded how that feels ! ! ! This, too, shall pass.
Really want to thank you for starting this thread way back in June I believe it was. It has obviously been a great encouragement to more than 30 of us Over 50. Hope to see you here more. You were starting a 3 day juice fast . . . did that help with the sinus problems? Need to do something for sure! Thanks, again.

I agree 100% with you, Jeannie! Well said! I am at 3 weeks and 2 days 100% raw.
I am so glad there are so many of us "old farts" here on the board! I am almost 51 (less than 2 months away) and am feeling better than I have in YEARS! I have discontinued most of my medication (with the blessings of my doctor, of course!) Can't wait till I can pitch my diabetes meds(already at half the dosage as before), allergy meds, and sleeping pill.
I still have hot flashes (at least I THINK they are hot flashes, LOL! I could just be getting incredibly hot suddenly for other reasons!) They don't bother me much at all. I like to think of them as "power surges"!
Does this board have groups? Can we start an over-50 group? I only ask, because I noticed on someone's profile that they belonged to no public group.
Blessings to all!!!
