Question Organic Gardening - Worm Composting question

Do any of you use worms for composting? If so do the worms eat the nut/vegetable mix leftovers? It seems like they would but I'd hate to poison the little guys!

YES, we use worms, well, actually they simply come and eat what they want.

The thing that will poison your worms is plastic, don't compost in plastic containers, or wood with scent, such as pine or cedar.

We compost everything, but of course it is only veggies, fruit etc.

so they are happy little guys.

We have many organic gardens on our property.

Growing your own food and eating it is very rewarding.

Oh no! So I should ditch my totally plastic worm composter?

No wonder they aren't doing so well. Only a few survived from last year (I started this last spring) so I just put a fresh batch in there. They did make some lovely compost though!

How is yours set up? Outside? It gets cold here in the winter so I was keeping them inside. I'd love to hear what you are using. You can email me privately if you want. b4diapers@vista-express.com.

    Thanks!

    Question

When I was a kid, my father used to do worm composting in the basement in styrafoam coolers. I thought he was insane for doing so...haha..now I wish I had paid attention.

So, what sort of container do you use rawpriestess?
