    Default Dandelion Greens

    Hi,
Is there anyway that I can get the dandelion seeds and grow them inside. Where would I get the seeds? Anyone know?

    Thanks!

You know those pretty white puffy tops that develop at the top of the dandilion plant? The ones you make a wish on and blow?

    Those are the seeds.

I have seen lots of organic seeds being sold at whole foods too. Dandelion greens, kale, spinach...all easy to grow at home even in little clay pots!

Maybe take some of the plants from outside and plant them in pots? If all else fails you can probably find seeds online :)

    RowanC,
I totally know what you're talking about. My little sister and I made a wish on one yesterday. I was just saying vegforlife could do that if vegforlife could not find any that went to seed. :)

Is it any different than the greens on the lawn? Cause I have PLENTY of dandelions!!! Believe me. Arrgg lol Have them all!

    Default Nope

    Nope, no difference at all.
It's probably a little late to eat the ones on the lawn, although a few might be nice in a green smoothie. They get bitter once they get mature.

HOWEVER, this is a good time to go study the leaves. See how the teeth point 'backwards' toward the whirl of the center? Once you learn the leaves, you can identify the young plants next spring early.

The flowers, by the way, are lovely raw in salad.
Just pick them, then pinch the green part tightly while you twist your fingers until the petals fall out into your salad. Pretty and sweet. Eat some.. they're like honey!

Don't use more than 5 or 6 raw dandilions in a salad at a time though.
