Need idea for a toddler raw diet
Hi, i am 100% raw, my little girl brought me back on the raw diet because she refused to eat any cook foods. (What a clever little girl, lol...) I know on cook food what to start to give to baby first and etc... but what about a raw diet.
How do you introduce them slowly to eat all kind of raw food. She has been eating raw smoothies, green smoothies but now she is back on my milk only. She is teething and had a little cold but i am wondering also, if she is just feed up of smoothies.
Please help with suggestion on how to raise a raw baby. THis is such a new concept to many raw diet that there isn't much information out there on this.

MONO EATING
Soft foods first untilshe's wanting to dig in with her teeth
Bananas
Apple Sauce
Pureed fruits
Paper thin cucc
Diced tomato
She may also desire her foods room temp. as produce out the fridge can be a bit chilly
Later serve the fruit and vegies finely diced and then eventually she'll be walking around eating it whole
My toddlers 3 and 4 still prefer their salds as individual ingredients not all mixed together. So during prep I just leave everyones items seperate that way folks can pcik theri favorite ingredients, the little ones can eat mono and there is no waste. Plus the salad fixings last longer whne they aren't premixed and getting mushy together.
It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

Thank you, this is a good idea to give some little veggies to chew on.
I will try the room temperature, she kind of threw the raw carrot the other day, because it was wet and cold, lol...

I would love more ideas on this too.
My 15 month old has been raw since during my pregnancy. BUT he is fed up with raw foods. He eats very little anymore (he is nursing still). He wants what the rest of the family is eating when they are eating cooked foods (like potatoes, steamed veggies)
He still likes fruit leather, most smoothies and flax crackers with avocado or salmon pate on them. Once in a while he will eat crepes with the chocolate pudding inside of them. Occasionaly he will eat some raw treats.
He barely likes to eat just fresh fruits like he did before. I don't know if it is a phase or what but it is kind of worrisome.
Every now and then I will try him on cooked foods and he loves them and eats and eats and eats them like nothing else. I have never seen him put away so much food as he does of the "healthy" cooked vegan foods.
Yet, he gets so crabby and cries more when he eats something cooked.
Most of the things he used to eat he won't touch now.
I have noticed that he is much happier if I am making a lot of raw foods. He finds more that he likes. Especially the bread types of things made with buckwheat. He also likes apple cobbler out of the dehydrator. BUT he will only eat it for a couple of meals and then he isn't interested in it.
Hopefully, someone here has some good information to share with us.

Mine too
My little girl doesn't want to have anything to do with cook food. She would eat sweet potatoes and it would be it, the only things she would go for was smoothies. Maybe this is a phase thing, i still five her my milk through pumping. This is interesting to see that they don't want food at some points and only milk.
I know that cook food is addictive, and the first response to a baby with cook food is to close their mouth, but when people persist with the cook food, they will develop the addiction.
It doesn't seem to suit well your little toddler eating cook food according to his physical and emotional reaction.
I wish to know more about raw food and babies, lol.... I guess that she gets good nutriments from my milk but i am crossing my finger that this a phase and she will soon wanted to try out more stuff.

Be really careful with carrots--they can be a real choking hazard for babyies. You might want to try shredding them or popping them in the food processor and letting you baby eat the resulting "slaw".

Carrots are a poor choice for babies regardless. I try not to give them until after two years. They are very high in nitrites naturally (even the organic ones) and hard for their bodies to process.

My daughter began her food-eating experience as a 100% raw child. I fed her lots of fats such as bananas, avocados, and pureed coconut. Fats are important for developing bodies (children) to have a bit more of than developed bodies (adults). When she was big enough to eat more solid foods, I often fed her big bowls of blueberries or pitted dates with tahini 'frosting'. Fresh fruit & veggie juices were integral as well. Not only are the juices beneficial nutritionally ~ they also have the added bonus of helping the child develop a natural taste relationship to the foods before they reach the age that they've got an aversion from having started out with less-than-ideal eating habits.
My daughter was a late eater just like your describe your daughter ~ she ate predominantly breastmilk until after turning 12 months. I think that is a really good thing. In fact, she is 12.5 y/o now and her immune system is ROCK solid! She is the healthiest child I've ever seen, in fact. I liken it to her very ideal foundation.

Yes, i think that my daughter will be a very late milk eater too. I came accross a couple moms which have shared that their baby breastfeed until past two years. Oh mye, i work full time soi have to pump at work. But i am committed to follow her needs. This is scary when the majorities of people has a different approached then following the intuition and go with the traditional old ways by fear that their child won't develop properly or having a good immunity. I am glad to find support with all of you so i can continue to use natural alternatives with my little baby girl.
This feel good

Oh, to clarify ~ I meant in my previous post that my daughter ate breastmilk exclusively until after 12 months of age. She started solids late, is what I meant. She did not finish breastfeeding until 6 years old, however. I am an advocate of child-lead weaning. Breastfeeding's average international weaning age is 4 or 5 years old. There is much more info available on this subject at MDC. Are you familiar with MDC, mama?

Nop, i have no clue what THAT IS...

Just wanted to add - I made the buckwheat crunch cereal from the book, Raw food real world - last week. I told a few of my friends with kids that it would make an excellent first cookie or cereal for a toddler !
